The young Australian team on the other hand impressed one and all. Tanveer Sangha the young leg spinner picked up 4 wickets for 31 runs in his debut. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in the T20I series despite not playing in the second T20I game. Matthew Short played a match-winning 66 from 30 balls in the second game. In this game, Aussies chased down a decent target of 165 runs with as many as 31 balls to spare. Spencer Johnson picked up 2 wickets for 33 runs in the first game. He once again bowled economically in the 3rd match.

Australia played their last one-day game against India in India. It was a day/night game played in Chennai earlier in the year. Australians batted first in the game to score 269 runs all out. Indians made a game attempt at chasing the target when they scored 248 all out from 49.1 overs. They fell short by a margin of 21 runs. The Aussie bowler Adam Zampa was adjudged player of the match for his 4-wicket haul giving away 45 runs. The key factor in this game was the performance of the Aussie middle order that contributed 20s and 30s to their team's cause.
