SUR vs HAM Match Preview

Will Jacks has been brilliant with both, the bat as well as the ball, and played a pivotal role in his team’s success so far. He, and his opening partner, Laurie Evans, are the top two run-getters for the team. Jacks gas also picked up 10 wickets. Jamie Overturn and Tom Curran have struggled a bit with the bat and will be looking to turn things around here.

Their lack of form will put added pressure on Sam Curran to score runs. Surrey has a lot of depth in their batting as the likes of Sean Abbott and Chris Jordan can all swing the willow to good effect. Sunil Narine is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 14 wickets and will once again lead the spin attack.

Surrey has a potent pace attack made up of the likes of Sam Curran, Abbott, and Chris Jordan. However, the latter two have struggled to pick up wickets consistently.

Hampshire will be banking on James Vince and Ben McDermott to give them a brisk start here. Vince has been excellent with the bat, scoring 4 half-centuries and a century in his 9 innings. However, McDermott has lacked consistency. Joe Weatherley will be their key batsman in the middle order as the likes of Toby Albert and Ross Whiteley have failed to get going.

To their advantage, Hampshire does have some all-rounders lower down the order, who will be looking to score runs at the death. Nathan Ellis will lead the pace attack here along with John Turner and Chris Wood. Turner has picked up 8 wickets in just 4 matches and will look to bowl yet another good spell here.

Like their opponents, Hampshire too has just one quality spinner on the team in the form of Liam Dawson.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain overcast and there is a possibility of rain, leading to delays and interruptions.

Pitch Report

The surface at the Kennington Oval is good to bat on. As there is some amount of grass on the pitch, there will be some movement for the quicker bowlers early on. But the pitch should settle down and get easier to bat on as the game progresses. The spinners too will come into play here.

Notable stats
