Somerset has done a super job in the competition so far and has recorded just a single defeat. They have a better record than any other team in either the South or North Group. The only team that beat Somerset in the competition this year has been Hampshire Hawks. Although Somerset lost this game against Hampshire, they bounced back immediately to record an 80-run win over Gloucestershire a couple of days later. After making a labored start to the competition, the Somerset opener Will Smeed has found form in recent games.

Will Smeed hit a splendid 94 from 35 balls in a local Derby against the visiting Gloucestershire. Other batters that are looking good this season have been Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Banton. The bowling attack for Somerset this year has added some depth to it. Some bowler always steps up when required and lead the bowling attack this year. But in their last match, they had Shoaib Bashir, Roelof van der Merwe, and Josh Davey all picking up 3 wickets each while Craig Overton picked up one wicket.

The Surrey team hasn’t done too badly either. They have had to endure two losses from their 8 games in the Blast. Surrey is in second position in the South Group points tally with only Somerset being placed over them. They pretty much hammered Sussex by a massive margin of 124 runs in their last contest one week earlier. Laurie Evans has come to life in the competition all of a sudden. In his last three outings for Surrey, he has scored 52, 118, and 93 not out. In the last game against Sharks Sam Curran also scored 68 runs from 35 balls.

Surprisingly it was spinners that put up a noticeable performance in the last match for Surrey. Will Jacks picked up 2 wickets for 29 runs, Sunil Narine picked up 3 for 12 and Cameron Steel collected 3 wickets for 41 runs. But we expect the quicker bowlers to come into their own in this match with the likes of Sean Abbott, Sam Curran, and captain Chris Jordan being the key quicks. If there is one side that can dislodge Somerset from the top of the table it is Surrey. They also beat Sharks by a massive margin of 124 runs and looked pretty sharp in the game before that as well against Glamorgan.
