SEC vs PC Match Preview

After losing a match against the Durban Super Giants last Saturday, the defending champions have made a strong comeback, winning back-to-back matches as it heads into this contest. As a result of those wins, the Sunrisers have climbed up to the 3rd place on the points table.

Jordan Hermann is in good form at the top of the batting order. He scored a century in the match against MI Cape Town earlier this season and is the leading run-scorer for his team. Hermann will look to give the Sunrisers a strong start as he partners with Dawid Malan.

Tom Abell and Aiden Markram have got a couple of good starts so far but the team will want a bigger inning from at least one of them. Tristan Stubbs looks in good touch as he has scored 2 half-centuries in his 3 innings. He can also play the role of a finisher along with all-rounder Marco Jansen.

Ottneil Baartman and Daniel Worrall have been pretty accurate with the new ball and have picked up early wickets to keep the opposition under pressure. They are the joint-highest wicket-takers for the team with 4 wickets each.

Coming to the spin department, Simon Harmer bowled an excellent spell, picking up 4 wickets for just 18 runs. His spell was the key to handing the Sunrisers their second successive win. He will once again lead the attack with the support of Liam Dawson and Markram.

The Pretoria Capitals haven’t been in the best of forms this season. The team has managed to win just 1 of the 4 matches played so far and is sitting at the bottom of the points table. As we approach the halfway mark of the group stage, the Capitals will be desperate for a win here.

Will Jacks is in brilliant all-round form and is the leading run-scorer as well as the leading wicket-taker for the team. Jacks has scored 165 runs at a strike rate of 196.42 and has also picked up 5 wickets. He will open the batting with Phil Salt, who too can score runs at a brisk pace.

Kyle Verreynne, who was making his debut for the Capitals on Saturday, played an excellent knock of 72 runs, albeit for a losing cause. He, along with Rilee Rossouw, will be the key players in the middle order. With all-rounders like James Neesham, Wayne Parnell, and Corbin Bosch coming in lower down the order, Pretoria has plenty of depth in its batting.

The bowling is one area where the team will look to improve. Barring Jacks, the other bowlers have been very expensive and that has been one of the main causes for the team’s poor run.

Weather Report

The weather in Gqeberha is likely to remain overcast on Monday and there might be some showers during the day. However, things are expected to clear out by the evening and we can expect to have a full game. The temperature will remain pleasant at around 20 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The pitch at St. George’s Park is generally good to bat on. The last match played here saw an aggregate of 415 runs scored and we can therefore expect another high-scoring match. There is a good amount of pace and bounce on offer early on in the match, making it easy for the batsmen to play their shots.

Winning the toss and batting first will be a good option on this surface. The team batting first will look to score over 200 runs.

The bowlers will need to be disciplined if they want to pick up wickets.

Notable stats

Neesham: Excellent Value

James Neesham has been a consistent all-rounder in the SA20. He has scored 217 runs so far at a strike rate of 135.62 and has also picked up 16 wickets at a bowling average of 17.68.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to win this match. The team has performed well in its last couple of matches and that should give them a good amount of confidence. They have done well in all departments and the bowling has been particularly impressive.

On the other hand, the Pretoria Capitals, despite having some talented players, have struggled to perform well as a team.
