NSW vs WAC Match Preview

Except for captain Kurtis Patterson, none of the batsmen have been able to play consistently for New South Wales.. Patterson is the top-scorer for his team, scoring 269 runs at an average of close to 54. All-rounders Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott have been a bit disappointing so far. Blake Nikitaras has failed to get going at the top of the order.

In the bowling department, Ben Dwarshuis has enjoyed limited success, and barring him, the bowling hasn’t been up to the mark.

Western Australia is at the top spot on the points table leading Queensland by 6 points.

The top order has been in excellent form for Western Australia with Whiteman, Cartwright, and Bancroft playing exceedingly well. The middle order is a bit of a concern for the team, as players like Aaron Hardie and Josh Philippe have got some starts but have failed to convert them into big scores. However, their shortcomings have been compensated by the excellent batting of the top order. Lance Morris has been great throughout the season and has scalped 23 wickets so far.

Matthew Kelly joined the squad quite late but looked quite promising in the 2 matches he has played so far.

Weather Report

The weather is likely to remain overcast throughout next week, with temperatures hovering around the 20-degree mark.

Pitch Report

The pitch is good for batting, albeit it is not as bouncy as the one in Gabba. However, the batsmen will be able to easily go through with their shots in the first couple of days. Post that, the spinners will get a good amount of turn, making this an exciting contest between the bat and the ball.

Notable stats

Sam Whiteman's Consistent Batting

Sam Whiteman has been a great asset for Western Australia at the top of the order. He is the top scorer for his team this season and has scored 298 runs so far. In the last 10 matches, his batting average has been close to 62.

Chris Tremain’s Incredible Economy Rate

Chris Tremain hasn’t been in the best of forms this season but it’s just a matter of time before he gets going. In the 9 matches, he has picked up 31 wickets with an economy rate of just 2.30.

Team News

Daniel Hughes from NSEW missed the last game due to Covid19. He is likely to be back in the squad, replacing Ryan Hackney at the top of the order. Other than that, no changes are expected in either of the squads.

Dream11 Prediction

While NSW has a few brilliant players, they haven’t been able to perform well as a unit. With still a long way to go before the first-class season ends, they will bounce back at some stage. But given the current form, Western Australia should win this match easily.

Top Picks

Sean Abbott: The veteran Australian bowler has taken 186 wickets in 69 first-class matches. He is a handy batsman lower down the order, having scored more than 200 runs, which include a century and 12 half-centuries.

Cameron Bancroft: Bancroft is in great touch, and has already scored 2 centuries this season. Along with Whiteman, he has provided Western Australia with good starts in the tournament, and he will be looking to get a big score on the batting-friendly pitch at the SCG.

Lance Morris: Within just a couple of years of making his first-class debut for Western Australia, Lance Morris has become an indispensable part of its bowling line-up. He is 3rd on the list of top wicket-takers for this season and has taken 22 wickets at an average of less than 19.
