MSA vs TCB Match Preview

After beating the Bangla Tigers in the opening match, the Samp Army registered another comfortable victory in its second match, defeating Delhi Bulls by 8 wickets. Sheldon Cottrell produced an excellent spell with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for just 10 runs in his two overs to limit the Bulls to a modest total of 94. The target was chased down comfortably in just 7.4 overs thanks to an excellent half-century by Johnson Charles, who remained unbeaten on 58 off just 22 deliveries.

The Samp Army’s bowling attack appears to be one of the best in the tournament so far, as they haven’t allowed the opposition batsmen to cut loose. Dwaine Pretorius has picked up 4 wickets so far and is 4th on the list of leading wicket-takers for the season.

After a last-place finish in the previous season, the Chennai Braves are once again off to a less-than-ideal start. The team is currently 6th on the points table.

Carlos Brathwaite is in excellent all-round form this season and is the leading run-scorer as well as the top wicket-taker for the Braves. In the match against the Tigers, he scored 44 runs off just 19 deliveries to propel Chennai to 126-6 in their quota of 10 overs, and then came up with a magical spell of 4 wickets for just 3 runs to rattle the opposition, handing his team a memorable win.

The batting has been a bit of a let-down for the Braves, as no one except Brathwaite has been able to bat consistently. Sikandar Raza, who had an excellent outing in the T20 World Cup, is yet to find his rhythm. The bowling has been a tad better, as Fuller, Dooley, and Stone have all chipped in at regular intervals.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain clear, and the temperature will remain in the late 20s.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Abu Dhabi has proved to be an excellent surface to bat on. However, the quicker bowlers do get some movement early on. Expect the pitch to stay true throughout the match, and the batsmen will be able to hit through the line without any problems.

Notable stats

James Fuller’s All-Round Performance

James Fuller is an excellent all-rounder for the Chennai Braves. In T20s he has scored 1382 runs at an average of 22 and picked up 129 wickets too.

David Miller’s Explosive Batting

David Miller has been in great touch in the T20s this year, scoring 361 runs in 13 innings at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 165.

Team News

With both teams winning each of their respective last games we do not expect them to make any changes within the playing eleven.

Dream11 Prediction

While the Chennai Braves did win their last contest, the Samp Army looks very settled and appears to have found the right balance of players. The Braves will most certainly put up a solid resistance but we think that the Samp Army has an edge here and will likely turn out to be the winner.

Top Picks

Sikandar Raza: Sikandar was the hero for Zimbabwe in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, where he scored 219 runs and picked up 10 wickets. He will have to play a key role if the Braves want to win this one.

Sheldon Cottrell: Sheldon has picked up 159 wickets in 127 T20 matches that he has played. He bowled an excellent spell in the last game, and given the fact that the pitch at Abu Dhabi is providing good assistance to seamers, he will be a great asset yet again for the Samp Army.

Carlos Brathwaite: Carlos Brathwaite’s excellent all-round performance was the key reason why the Braves secured their first win of the season in the previous game. In his long T20 career, he has scored more than 2000 runs and picked up more than 200 wickets.
