MLSW vs PERW Match Preview

Batting has been the biggest letdown for the Stars this season. Hugely dependent on Annabel Sutherland and Alice Capsey, the other batter around them have failed to provide them with the required support throughout this season.

Annabel Sutherland is the top scorer as well as the top wicket-taker within the squad, while Capsey has done all the heavy lifting in the middle order. Sasha Moloney has picked up 17 wickets in 12 matches but is bowling below her abilities.

Beth Mooney has only gotten better with age and is the leading run-scorer for the Perth Scorchers as well as in the league this season. She has received good support from Maddy Green, who along with Marizanne Kapp has lent stability to the otherwise average middle order. Kapp has been superb with the ball too, picking up 10 wickets so far. Sophie Devine hasn’t been in the best of forms with the bat but has compensated with her all-round abilities.

Alana King has by far been the best bowler within the squad.

Weather Report

The weather is likely to remain overcast throughout the day and we might also see a few showers causing delays. The temperature is expected to hover around the 20-degree mark.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Moe is pretty balanced, with a good bounce on offer. It will be easy to play the shots early on in the match.

However, as the match progresses, there will be some turn on offer for the spinners.

Notable stats

Beth Mooney’s Consistent Batting

Beth Mooney is the all-time top scorer in the WBBL and seems to get only better with age. In the last 10 matches, she has scored 374 runs at an average of 53.43 and an impressive strike rate of 129.

Sasha Moloney’s Excellent Bowling

Sasha Moloney has been quite effective this season and has picked up 17 wickets from 12 matches at an economy rate of just over 6. Her figures of 4-15 against the Renegades are the best for a Star’s bowler this season.

Team News

Both teams are likely to field an unchanged eleven for this match.

Dream11 Prediction

The Perth Scorchers are likely to win this match. They have already defeated the Stars once this season, and have enough firepower to do so again. The Melbourne Stars are heavily dependent on the performances of just a couple of players and if even one of them fails, they will find it pretty hard to make a comeback.

Top Picks

Marizanne Kapp: Kapp has proved to be a handy player for the Perth Scorchers, contributing with both bat as well as the ball. She has scored 193 runs in the last 10 matches at a strike rate of 141, and picked up 10 wickets in the last 11 innings, at an economy of just over 5.

Sophie Devine: While not in the best of forms, Sophie has led the Perth Scorchers well this season. She is a potent all-rounder who has scored 131 runs and picked up 8 wickets this season.

Alice Capsey: She is one of the mainstays of the Stars team, and has been instrumental in whatever little success they have achieved. She is known for her quick scoring and has a strike rate of close to 130 this season.
