LSG vs PBKS Match Preview

While the batting for the LSG wasn’t up to the park in the first couple of matches, batsmen including KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran have gradually picked up form to make Lucknow a formidable batting line-up. Quinton de Kock is also waiting in the wings and LSG would surely be tempted to play him in this match. All-rounders including Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya also add depth to their batting.

Kyle Mayers, who played a couple of devastating innings at the start of the season will have to play another good inning here and give the home team a good start. With Mark Wood back in the playing XI, the seam attack appears well-balanced. But the likes of Avesh Khan and Jaydev Unadkat leaked too many runs in the match against RCB and that is one area where the team will have to look into.

Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra make up for a formidable spin attack and Rahul will be banking on them to bowl a few tight overs in the middle of the innings to tie up the Punjab batting. The spinners could be the biggest threat on a sluggish Lucknow wicket.

The Punjab Kings started their campaign with back-to-back wins. But they have now lost 2 consecutive matches to drop down to the lower half of the points table.

Except for Shikhar Dhawan, the batsmen have lacked consistency and as a result, the batting has often been the Achilles heel for the team. Prabhsimran Singh has been dismissed for 2 consecutive ducks and will need to step up soon.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Matthew Short got good starts in the last match but squandered them away rather than playing a big inning. Sam Curran, who is one of the costliest players to feature this season, hasn’t been able to shine with either the bat or the ball. Arshdeep Singh has been the pick of the bowlers with 7 wickets but has received little support from the other end.

Harpreet Brar has been quite economical but has failed to pick up wickets. It is a similar story with Rahul Chahar, the only specialist spinner on the team. Both spinners could be value picks for this match considering the help spinners usually get here.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain on the warmer side with temperatures of between 30-35 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Ekana Stadium is a bit tricky to bat on. The grass is a bit patchy and there may be some low or inconsistent bounce as the ball holds onto the pitch. The batsmen will need to settle down before they start playing the big shots. Anything over 170 can get difficult to chase here.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Lucknow Super Giants to win here. They have played well so far this season and have a stronger team when compared to the Punjab Kings. Playing in front of a home crowd will be a bonus for them.

Top Picks

Nicholas Pooran: Pooran played a brilliant knock in LSG’s latest match where they won a thriller against the RCB. Pooran is a clean striker of the ball and is an excellent finisher.

Ravi Bishnoi: Ravi Bishnoi has been one of the go-to bowlers for KL Rahul this season and has picked up 6 wickets in 4 matches. His economy rate is pretty good too, at just 7.12 runs per over.

Shikhar Dhawan: Dhawan is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament. He has scored 2 half-centuries in 4 innings and has a strike rate of 146.54.
