LSG vs MI Match Preview

Playing without the services of skipper KL Rahul, the Super Giants still have a pretty strong batting line-up. Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock are prolific scorers in the T20 format and will be looking to give the team a quick start here.

Mayers is the highest scorer for the Super Giants this season, while de Kock has played well in both the matches he has featured in so far. Prerak Mankad, who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic circuit, scored a gritty half-century in the last match and we are once again likely to see him in the number 3 slot.

Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran add heft to the middle order. But the Super Giants do appear a bit lacking when it comes to depth in batting, especially as stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya hasn’t been consistent with the bat. Yudhvir Singh and Kyle Mayers are expected to start with the new ball here.

The Super Giants have quite a few bowling options in the seam department but except for Naveen ul-Haq, all of them have been a bit expensive. With the pitch having some dry spots, Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra are likely to play an important role here.

The batsmen have played an important part in building up MI's winning momentum. They have breached the 200-run mark in 4 of their last 5 innings, and have towered over the opposition bowling.

Suryakumar Yadav has shown scintillating form in recent matches and has scored 5 50+ scores in his last 7 innings, including his first-ever IPL century. The kind of form he is in, and his ability to hit the ball in all areas of the park make him one of the most difficult batsmen to bowl to.

In addition to Yadav, we have seen some excellent batting from the likes of Ishan Kishan, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, and Nehal Wadhera, making MI one of the strongest batting line-ups in the league. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah had struck a body blow to the bowling department but the youngsters have slowly stepped in to fill the void.

Akash Madhwal has bowled a couple of terrific spells and Kumar Kartikeya looks promising too. The Indians also have a couple of experienced campaigners in the line-up. Piyush Chawla is having his best-ever IPL in terms of the number of wickets taken, while Jason Behrendorff has been quite effective with the new ball.

Weather Report

The weather is likely to remain warm with temperatures of over 32 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The Ekana Stadium is one of those rare pitches this season that offers a more even contest between the bat and the ball. The surface is a bit patchy with some green grass and some very dry patches. The ball tends to keep a bit low, making it difficult to play the big shots. The average first-inning score here this season is around 145, which is a par score.

Notable stats

Nicholas Pooran's Explosive Batting

Nicholas Pooran has been in good form this season and is a reliable performer for the LSG in the middle order. He has scored a total of 292 runs at an average of 29.20 and an excellent strike rate of 173.80.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Mumbai Indians to win here. After a slow start, the team has made an excellent comeback and is now of the most feared batting line-ups of this tournament. The bowling too has vastly improved from what it was at the start of the season and we feel that they are capable of overcoming any challenge thrown their way by the home team.

Top Picks

Suryakumar Yadav: Yadav has been in brilliant form over the last couple of weeks and has rapidly climbed up the list of the top run-getters of this tournament. He has scored 479 runs so far at a strike rate of 190.83.
