LSG vs MI Team Previews

Lucknow Super Giants

After a couple of unfavorable results and a washed-out match, the Lucknow Super Giants finally managed to get back to winning ways in their latest fixture as they defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets on Saturday. With that win, the Super Giants now have 13 points against their name on the points table.

A win here will immensely boost their chances of making it to the playoffs.

Playing without the services of skipper KL Rahul, the Super Giants still have a pretty strong batting line-up. Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock are prolific scorers in the T20 format and will be looking to give the team a quick start here.

Mayers is the highest scorer for the Super Giants this season, while de Kock has played well in both the matches he has featured in so far. Prerak Mankad, who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic circuit, scored a gritty half-century in the last match and we are once again likely to see him in the number 3 slot.

Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran add heft to the middle order. But the Super Giants do appear a bit lacking when it comes to depth in batting, especially as stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya hasn’t been consistent with the bat. Yudhvir Singh and Kyle Mayers are expected to start with the new ball here.

The Super Giants have quite a few bowling options in the seam department but except for Naveen ul-Haq, all of them have been a bit expensive. With the pitch having some dry spots, Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra are likely to play an important role here.

Krunal Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Prerak Mankad, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Naveen ul Haq, Ravi Bishnoi, Swapnil Singh, Mohsin Khan.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians have played some phenomenal cricket over the last couple of weeks. At one stage of the tournament, they faced an uncertain future regarding the qualification to get playoffs. But now, with 4 wins in the last 5 matches, they are all but through to the next stage.

The batsmen have played an important part in building up this winning momentum. They have breached the 200-run mark in 4 of their last 5 innings, and have towered over the opposition bowling.

Suryakumar Yadav has shown scintillating form in recent matches and has scored 5 50+ scores in his last 7 innings, including his first-ever IPL century. The kind of form he is in, and his ability to hit the ball in all areas of the park make him one of the most difficult batsmen to bowl to.

In addition to Yadav, we have seen some excellent batting from the likes of Ishan Kishan, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, and Nehal Wadhera, making MI one of the strongest batting line-ups in the league. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah had struck a body blow to the bowling department but the youngsters have slowly stepped in to fill the void.

Akash Madhwal has bowled a couple of terrific spells and Kumar Kartikeya looks promising too. The Indians also have a couple of experienced campaigners in the line-up. Piyush Chawla is having his best-ever IPL in terms of the number of wickets taken, while Jason Behrendorff has been quite effective with the new ball.

If the Mumbai Indians continue playing the way they are, it wouldn’t be surprising if we see them lift the title once again.

Cameron Green, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Timothy David, Nehal Wadhera, Chris Jordan, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal.

LSG vs MI Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first here.

Pitch and Conditions

The Ekana Stadium is one of those rare pitches this season that offers a more even contest between the bat and the ball. The surface is a bit patchy with some green grass and some very dry patches. The ball tends to keep a bit low, making it difficult to play the big shots. The average first-inning score here this season is around 145, which is a par score.

The weather is likely to remain warm with temperatures of over 32 degrees Celsius.

LSG vs MI Betting Tips

While the Lucknow Super Giants did manage to win their latest match and have been quite consistent in their performance, looking at the recent form of their opponents, the Mumbai Indians, we think that the home team will find it very difficult to beat them here. The visitors have peaked in form just at the right time and we expect them to build up on the momentum.

Bet on the Mumbai Indians to win.

Bonus Cricket Bets

  1. Betway

Highest score after first 6 overs

    Mumbai Indians (1.75)

While the Lucknow Super Giants also have a potent opening pair, the top-order batting for the Mumbai Indians, especially Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are in a belligerent mood. The new-ball bowling attack for the LSG isn’t the strongest one around and that’s why we are predicting a bigger score for MI in the Powerplay.

  1. Satbet

    Suryakumar Yadav Total Score

    Over 24.5 (1.85)

Yadav has been in exceptional form over the last couple of weeks. He has scored at least 25 runs in 6 out of his last 7 outings, including in each of his last 5. We are therefore backing him to play another good inning here.

  1. 1xBet

    Piyush Chawla Total Wickets

    Over 1.5 (2.375)

Piyush Chawla has bowled brilliantly this season and is the leading wicket-taker for MI with 19 wickets. This is also his best-ever performance with the ball in his IPL career. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in 7 out of his last 8 matches. With a bowler-friendly pitch on offer at Lucknow, we can expect another good bowling effort from him.
