We expect to see more or less the same batting unit take the field for India. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Dinesh Karthik will all be in the playing eleven. The real question is over who will replace Hardik Pandya. We think Rishab Pant will get another opportunity to prove he belongs in this format.
We could see Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah bowling in tandem for the first time with perhaps Deepak Chahar replacing Bhuneshwar Kumar. India could also choose to stick with Harshal Patel and give him a couple of more chances.
With plenty of left-handers in the lineup, this is a series in which R Ashwin will get a chance as well.
Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, and Rilee Rossouw could be the top 3 for South Africa. It would be a bit harsh on Reeza Hendricks but that is the direction we expect the team to take. Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaassen/ Tristan Stubbs are likely to be in the starting lineup as well.
At number 7, Dwaine Pretorius or Wayne Parnell will be crucial followed by the two spinners (Maharaj and Shamsi) and the two express fat-bowlers (Rabada and Nortje).
