HBH vs ADS Match Preview

With just 2 wins in the 5 matches played so far, the Hurricanes are 7th on the points table and will need to get a couple of wins to move into the top half.

Despite Nathan Ellis picking up 4 wickets, the Sydney Thunder batsmen continued to pummel the bowlers and posted a mammoth score of 228-6.

In reply, Matthew Wade played a gritty knock of 67 from just 30 deliveries but wickets continued to fall around him at regular intervals. The Hurricanes were eventually bundled out for 166 and lost the match by a huge margin of 62 runs. The bowlers have done a decent job for the Hurricanes as both, Patrick Dooley and Riley Meredith have picked up 9 wickets so far.

The batting has been a big letdown for the Hurricanes as except for Matthew Wade and Tim David, none of the batsmen have been able to make a significant impact on the proceedings.

The Strikers’ latest match, played against the Melbourne Stars was a pretty close affair. Asked to bowl first, the Adelaide Strikers bowlers weren’t able to tie down the likes of Stoinis and Joe Clarke as the Stars put up a huge score of 186-7.

Wes Agar picked up 3 wickets while Henry Thornton added 2 to his kitty. The chase began on shaky ground as the Strikers lost their star batsmen, Matthew Short and Chris Lynn pretty cheaply. However, Henry Hunt and Adam Hose steadied the innings by putting together a 74-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.

Hose went on to score his maiden BBL half-century and took his team within a striking distance of the target. Rashid Khan played an excellent cameo toward the end but the home team eventually fell short by 7 runs.

Weather Report

There is a forecast for rain on Monday which may lead to some delays. The temperature will range from 20-27 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The Bellerive Oval is an excellent ground to bat on due to the consistent bounce off the pitch. The quicker bowlers will get some assistance in the beginning but as the match progresses, the spinners will come into play. The average first innings score here is between 160-170.

Notable stats

Matthew Wade’s Consistent Batting

Matthew Wade is the mainstay of the Hobart Hurricanes’ batting for this season. His overall record in the BBL is excellent too. In the last 8 matches, Wade has scored 316 runs at an average of 45.14 and a strike rate of 141.70.

Team News

Despite both teams coming into this contest on the back of a loss, we do not expect them to make any changes in the playing eleven as there are no reports of any injuries.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Adelaide Strikers to win this match. While they have suffered a huge drop in form, the team has several in-form players who will be eager to get back on a winning track. The batting for the Hobart Hurricanes is in very poor shape at the moment. Facing the likes of Henry Thornton and Wes Agar on the seaming pitch of Hobart, we think that the woes for Hurricanes are likely to continue.

Top Picks

Chris Lynn: Playing his first season for the Adelaide Strikers, Chris Lynn has played a couple of fine innings in the middle order. Lynn is the all-time leading scorer in BBL history. This season, he has scored 173 runs from 6 innings.

Henry Thornton: Thornton has picked up 16 wickets in 6 innings so far and appears to be in excellent form. He has bowled some superb spells this season, including a fifer and a 4 wicket haul, and is likely to be pretty effective on the flat pitch at Hobart.

Matthew Wade: Wade has been a consistent performer for the Hurricanes this season. In 4 innings that he has batted this season, Wade has scored 168 runs at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of 151.35. His innings also include 2 half-centuries.
