GT vs MI Match Preview

Wriddhiman Saha played well in the last match, scoring 47 runs. With him back in form, the Titans will be hoping that Saha and Shubhman Gill give them a brisk start here and can actually carry on. Saha has an excellent strike-rate during the powerplay but then slows down once the field restrictions are over.

Hardik Pandya, who promoted himself to the number-3 position, went on to score his 9th half-century in his IPL career and played an instrumental role in getting his team to a respectable total. One area of concern for the Titans will be the form of its lower middle-order batsmen as David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, and Rahul Tewatia have all failed to play a big inning so far.

There is not much information being shared about the availability of Sai Sudharsan, who did not play the previous match.

Talking about the bowling, Rashid Khan has been excellent so far and is the leading wicket-taker for the Titans with 12 wickets. Jayant Yadav and Noor Ahmed bowled good spells in the previous game and we are likely to see more of them in the upcoming matches.

Mohammad Shami will lead the pace attack and he has found a good partner in veteran seamer Mohit Sharma, who has picked up 4 wickets in 3 matches and has bowled very economically too, giving away just 4.66 runs per over.

MI has started getting its battting in order and a number of its players seem to be in good form. Players that like pace on the ball like SKY, Green, and David will be important in this match. We could see them playing pivotal roles and are going to look to add them in our team.

The Mumbai Indians will be relieved to see Jofra Archer achieving match fitness. He picked a wicket in his comeback match against the Kings but was very expensive.

All the seamers, including Arjun Tendulkar, Jason Behrendorff, Cameron Green, and Archer went for more than 10 runs per over in that match. They will need to bowl a better line and length here if they want to restrict the Titans to a smaller total. Veteran spinner Piyush Chawla has been the best bowler for the Indians this season, picking up 9 wickets.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain warm with temperatures of between 30-35 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

While the average first-inning score at the Narendra Modi Stadium is around 165 in all the IPL matches played here to date, the 3 matches played here this season have seen an average score of over 180. There are some green patches on the pitch which will help the seamers generate some movement. The extra bounce in the surface will help players like SKY and Gill but the fast-bowlers will definitely fancy their chances as well.

The spinners however will need to work a bit harder to get their wickets.

Notable stats

Piyush Chawla’s Excellent Comeback

Chawla, who last played in the 2021 season has made a good comeback this year. He has picked up 9 wickets in 6 matches and has an excellent economy rate of 6.87 runs per over.

Team News

There are no updates regarding injuries from either side.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Gujarat Titans to win here. They successfully defeated an in-form Lucknow Super Giants in their last encounter despite putting up a modest total and that should give them plenty of confidence. Their top-order batting appears in good shape and playing under home conditions with a huge crowd backing them will be an added advantage for them.

Top Picks

Mohammad Shami: Shami has been excellent with the new ball this season and has picked up 10 wickets. The pitch at Ahmedabad has a good bounce and the green grass on the surface is perfectly suited for his style of bowling.

Shubhman Gill: Shubhman Gill has a good batting record at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He has scored 244 runs here at an average of 48.80. He has also scored 2 half-centuries in his 8 appearances against the Mumbai Indians.

Cameron Green: Cameron Green is striking the ball pretty well and has scored 166 runs this season at an impressive strike rate of 155.14. He has also picked up 5 wickets, making him a good pick for any team.
