The hosts will be pretty disappointed with the outcome of the first match. While not many expected them to win, the quantum of the loss would have hurt the team.

The bowling was pretty ordinary as none of the bowlers were able to make a big impact on the proceedings. The new ball pair of Jawadullah and Junaid Siddiqui picked up 1 wicket each but were quite expensive. They will be joined by Ali Naseer in the seam department.

The spin attack consists of Nilansh Keswani, Aayan Khan, and Basil Hameed. Coming to the batting, Muhammad Waseem and Khalid Shah will open the batting for the hosts. They will need to give the team a brisk start. Vriitya Aravind was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 70 runs even as the wickets continued to fall around him.

The team has included a couple of youngsters like Samal Udawaththa and Tanish Suri in the middle order and will need them to play well. 

Afghanistan

As expected, Afghanistan put up a clinical performance in the opening fixture and defeated the hosts by 72 runs.<br /> Rahmanullah Gurbaz was in prime form as he slammed a century off just 50 deliveries. It was his first century in the shortest format. He will likely be joined by Hazratullah Zazai as his opening partner.

Zadran came in at number 3 and was in good touch as he scored 59 runs. Other batsmen in the top order batting include Najibullah Zadran, but he has had a lean patch of late. The visitors have plenty of talented all-rounders. These include Karim Janat, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mohammad Nabi.

In the absence of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad will lead the spin department and will have the support of Qais Ahmed and Nabi. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen Ul-Haq will start the attack with the new ball.
