SYDW vs BHW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 24, 2023

We face our first very lopsided battle of the latest WBBL season, as the winless Sixers (0-2) take on the unbeaten Heat (2-0). While things aren’t getting better for the Sixers with star player Alyssa Healy out for several weeks due to an injury, the Heat are positively on fire. Brisbane picked up a giant 50-run win over the Scorchers, thanks primarily to Grace Harris’ epic 136 runs from 59 deliveries (12 fours and 11 sixes).

Sydney Sixers Women vs. Brisbane Heat Women will take place at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney, on October 24th. If you're on the lookout for a new site for odds, then check our recommended betting sites.

SYDW vs BHW Team Previews

Sydney Sixers Women

The Sixers really didn’t need this injury to Healy, as she’s one of the most experienced players in the entire league, not to mention a prolific run-scorer (330 runs last season). Still, there shouldn’t be so much concern, as the Sixers are roughly the same team that went 11-2 last season and lost to Strikers by 10 runs in the Final.

The team has brought in Linsey Smith, as well as Jess Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Mathilda Carmichael, Gabby Sutcliffe, and Kate Pelle. However, out are Nicole Bolton (retired), Ange Reakes (retired), Sophie Ecclestone, Stella Campbell, and Angela Genford.

Injuries to Carmichael and Sutcliffe are also a concern in addition to Healy, but batters such as Perry (408 runs last season), Gardner (339 runs), Bates (318 runs), and Burns (295) are still in the team and there’s no excuse for poor play with those names. Apart from Gardner’s 72 runs in the first game, there hasn’t been much to be excited about in this new season.

The loss of Ecclestone is a shame, as she was a fantastic bowler last season and picked up 20 wickets for the team. Gardner is the Sixers’ best bowler and had 23 wickets last season, but there will be more pressure on Cheatle this season and she should have a bigger role. She had 16 wickets last season, but that won’t be enough. Kerr is also one to watch and can be effective at times.

Sydney Sixers Women Playing 11

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat really needed a big performance to beat a tough squad like the Scorchers, and thankfully they got it with Harris’ incredible 136 runs. Harris has always been a great scorer, but nobody expected such a big performance such as this. Although the rest of the batters barely did anything (Redmayne was disappointing with 15), the Heat did get some help from du Preez with 36 runs.

With the ball, Hancock was a bit substandard with 0/18 after only bowling 1.1 overs, but it was certainly pace bowler Sippel (coming out of nowhere) with 4 big wickets. Keep an eye on her, as she’s young at 22 years old but has the potential for being an important bowler. Jonassen is perhaps the most reliable, as she already has 3 wickets so far.

Brisbane Heat Women Playing 11

Grace Harris, Georgia Redmayne, Georgia Voll, Mignon du Preez, Jess Jonassen, Bess Heath, Charli Knott, Mikayla Hinkley, Nicola Hancock, Sarah Glenn, Courtney Sippel.

SYDW vs BHW Toss Prediction

Bowling first is a great option on this pitch, as batting can be difficult, but expect to see the captain choosing to field if winning the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

The North Sydney Oval is usually a fantastic place for spinners since there is a lot of terrific turn and considerable grip. Here, low-scoring games are typical, so batters might have to be careful about shot selection and not get carried away to charge spinners. Pace bowlers can be useful at the start of the first innings with the new ball, but spin will be more effective.

SYDW vs BHW Betting Tips

Although the Sixers have won the last two games against the Heat, it was a very different Sydney side and they were on a roll with their wins. However, the Mostbet odds for the Sixers are very generous and there’s a lot of money to be won. Even without Healy, there are some great batters in the squad and it feels like it’s time to turn the fortunes around from two bad losses.

Cooling off the Heat won’t be easy, especially as Harris is in the zone, but if the Sixers can remove her for a very low score and keep the bowling pressure on, then there’s a strong chance that Sydney will get this victory.

Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.

Gardner was an explosive hitter last season with 339 runs, and with Healy out due to injury, we feel like she's going to step up and prove her worth in this match. She's already had a big scoring game this season with 72 runs, and those odds are very generous for such a great batter. Take this chance while you can.

Although we think the Sixers will win, the pair of Harris and Redmayne will likely still pick up more than Bates and Pelle, as Harris alone has been the best in the league so far. We're expecting a good effort from the middle order of the Sixers.
