MLSW vs ADSW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 24, 2023
It was only a few days ago that the Strikers absolutely annihilated the Stars by 148 runs. Now, the two teams will face each other again in what’s bound to be a spicy contest.
Even with the epic win over the Stars, the Strikers had a surprise loss to the Renegades by 81 runs. This, no doubt, has brought the team right back down to earth and made them somewhat humble again. The Stars also have a 1-1 record and will be looking for vengeance after the crushing defeat.
Melbourne Stars Women vs. Adelaide Strikers Women will take place at the Junction Oval, Melbourne, on October 24th. Don’t forget that you can use betting apps on your phone for bet-making.
MLSW vs ADSW Team Previews
Melbourne Stars Women
The Stars will quickly forget the shock loss to the Strikers and move on. The squad performed well enough in the first game victory over the Sixers, especially with Lanning scoring 55 runs and Sutherland earning 4 wickets. There’s a lot of talent on this team, but is it enough?
No one batted well in the game against the Strikers, so we’ll ignore that for now. Lanning is easily one of the most experienced batters in the WBBL, but Sutherland is perhaps the one who can go wild with a big score. Sutherland’s top score last season was 62*, but she has the ability to be consistent as well.
We’ve been a bit disappointed with the bowling from Moloney (0/56 in two games) and Capsey (0/45 in two games), as it can’t all fall on the shoulders of Sutherland to get wickets. Day has been solid with 4 wickets, but she’ll need to improve her Economy Rate.

Adelaide Strikers Women
Even though the Strikers were happy with their first game, mostly due to Mack’s 86 runs and 3 wickets each from Schutt and Wellington, their second game left a lot to be desired. The Renegades dismissed the Strikers for only 86 runs and totally dismantled their batters.
The top three batters of Mack, Wolvaardt, and McGrath combined for just 48 runs, with Mack being the most disappointing with only 3 runs. To think that she scored 86 before this simply displays the tough nature of T20 cricket. The middle-order and tail provided no help, either, which needs to be addressed for the next match.
What’s also surprising is the poor bowling attack, which allowed the Renegades to score a solid 167 runs in the first innings. The usually reliable Schutt (0/42), McGrath (0/18), and Wellington (0/28) were all outclassed and couldn’t get things together.

MLSW vs ADSW Toss Prediction
Any captain winning the toss would love to bat first and set a big total, as this should force the chasing team to take wilder shots and act out of character.

Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the Junction Oval is famously good for batters, as the speed and bounce is usually reliable and doesn’t move about too much. Finding the boundary is easy enough for talented batters and it should be a high-scoring game.
MLSW vs ADSW Betting Tips
Although the Parimatch odds are quite interesting for the Stars, it doesn’t feel like a safe bet on this team right now. There’s good talent on the squad, but we trust the Strikers far more. It’s unlikely that the Strikers will defeat the Stars by 148 runs again, but they have a mental advantage over the team and will play with a lot of confidence and precision.
Look for Mack and Wolvaardt to have bounce-back games and Wellington and Schutt will be able to handle the Stars batters. The Strikers have won the last two games against the Stars and it feels like this will be the third.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Mack averaged 23.33 runs last season, so it's a pretty safe bet that she could handle 21.5 runs here. Mack managed 86 runs in her first game alone, and although her second game was poor, she usually bounces back and performs well.
Those are some fantastic odds for a really talented batter. Sutherland can often lead the team in scoring, going as high as 62* last season. She managed over 300 runs, too, and is often one to keep her head cool against tough bowling.
The odds for Schutt and Wellington aren't too exciting, but it's worth a try on McGrath, as she's a talented allrounder who has the ability to take big wickets. She had two wickets in her first match and we think that even on a tough pitch, she could get at least three against a weaker Stars middle order.
