However, Australia still managed to win the initial game by 3 wickets (58 balls remaining), after South Africa scored 222 runs in the first innings.

It was again a pretty poor batting effort from South Africa, as they continue to make simple mistakes and allow the Australian bowlers to dictate the terms. Although it’s true that Bavuma’s 114 runs was excellent and he certainly saved the team from embarrassment, there is more work needed.
The biggest indicator of bad batting is that only 25 runs was picked up in the Powerplay. Furthermore, if you exclude Bavuma’s score, then the top six South African batters combined for just 52 runs. Jansen’s 32 runs was the only other notable score, but you shouldn’t have to rely on him too much.
It’s fair to say that the South African bowlers did a good job at the start of the game, especially as Warner was removed for a duck and Marsh made just 17 runs. Not to mention that the middle order of Stoinis, Carey, and Inglis combined for just 21 runs.
Still, it looked like the South African bowlers ran out of gas around the 25th over, as Labuschagne (substitute for Green after he retired hurt) made 80 and Agar cruised to 48. Rabada did well enough with 2/48 and Coetzee was solid with 2/44, but you’d still like to see more from Ngidi, who had just 1/42.

The biggest question Australia will face is whether Cameron Green will be ready for the second game. After not ducking quick enough to avoid a Rabada bouncer, Green was hit in the helmet and had to retire hurt on 0 runs. It’s unlikely he’ll play due to concussion protocols, but it’s interesting that his substitute, Labuschagne, saved the day with a powerful 80 runs. Labuschagne was the 12th Man in this game, but he’ll surely play Game 2.
Warner was quite disappointing with a duck, especially as he usually averages 44.66 runs in ODI games. The middle-order batting unit was lacklustre, and it certainly could have been a different story if Labuschagne and Agar couldn’t steer the team to victory.
Every Australian bowler managed to pick up a wicket, which goes to show that this bowling attack is lethal even without Cummins or Starc. Hazlewood was commanding with 3/41, but keep an eye on Stoinis, who had a great ER of 3.33 after picking up 2/20.

The pitch at the Mangaung Oval is regarded as very balanced with help provided for both batters and bowlers. In the opening overs, the pace bowlers will get a lot of movement and frequently challenge the batters. Yet, batting at this location continues to get smoother as the contest goes on. The outfield is speedy and isn't as large as other venues, so the batsmen can find the boundaries often here. Spinners are usually seen in the middle overs, but pace bowlers are the preferred option.

The odds are quite generous here, and there's a good chance that teams will want to get the scoreboard ticking with a quick single. It's unlikely they'll try to find the boundaries straight away in an ODI game, but the outfield can favour fast running here.
Marsh's recent scores have been fairly low by his standards (17 & 15), but he did pick up two half-centuries in the T20I series, so we know what he's capable of. Batting third, Marsh is definitely going to get a chance to score big, and it seems like the game with a captain's innings. His average his 34.32 right now, but a 50 is within reach.
The pitch has looked good for pace bowlers so far, and Hazlewood is one of the best bowlers in this Aussie team. He had 3/41 in the first ODI game, and he's certainly well-rested after not playing at all since The Ashes. Hazlewood has a strong ODI Economy Rate of 4.56 and will certainly perform great again.
