The Paarl Royals, like Durban's Super Giants, are undefeated in this season's SA20 so far. Paarl have collected back-to-back victories over the Pretoria Capitals. This time, they will be up against a Joburg Super Kings team that is still searching for their first win of the 2024 SA20.

The hard-hitting David Miller and complementary Mitchell van Buuren have emerged as Paarl's leading run-scorers this season. Van Buuren, who has not been capped in international cricket, has been particularly impressive amid a glut of Proteas and England stars.

Van Buuren's most recent knock was 72 not out against Pretoria. He showed there is a lot more to the Royals' batting order than just Miller, Jos Buttler, Jason Roy and company. Van Buuren is one of the early local stars of this tournament - keep an eye out for more big performances from him.

Bowling-wise, Paarl have relied on seamers Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phehlukwayo for regular wickets this season. They have shared eight so far - and both players look energised after playing for South Africa in the Cricket World Cup in India late last year. Ngidi, too, has been in decent form in Test cricket lately.

Joburg don't have batters that have reached the form of, say, Miller and van Buuren yet. But in Reeza Hendricks, Leus du Plooy and Donovan Ferreira, the Super Kings have a wealth of talent in the batting ranks. And don't forget captain Faf du Plessis, whose T20 form around the world has been solid for an extended period.

The Super Kings still have not fielded Gerald Coetzee this season. He is likely still recovering from the injury that ruled him out of South Africa's second Test against India earlier this year. Coetzee's absence leaves Lizaad Williams to effectively spearhead the bowling attack again. Williams has already taken five wickets in the 2024 SA20.

They can also lean on the vast experience of Imran Tahir, who has played for multiple domestic T20 teams around the globe. He captained the Guyana Amazon Warriors to their first Caribbean Premier League title last season. Tahir is arguably the best leg-spinner in this season's SA20.
