Pretoria Capitals
The Pretoria Capitals were the runners-up at the inaugural edition of the SA20 in 2023, after losing to the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final. In 2024, they are off to a disappointing start in the wake of back-to-back defeats to the Paarl Royals. The Capitals are still without an opening win this SA20 season.
They were without captain Wayne Parnell for both matches. It will be interesting to see if he has recovered from a shoulder injury and is named in the XI for this fixture. Parnell is an excellent all-rounder and, for now, Pretoria are really missing the left-armer's role with the ball.
Pretoria have arguably the most explosive opening batting pair in the tournament, but they need Will Jacks and Phil Salt firing in unison. Jacks hit a half-century in the previous fixture, while Salt fell for a duck. In the middle order, there's Rilee Rossouw, who struck 82 against the Royals recently.
The Capitals also have one of the fastest bowlers in the tournament in Daryn Dupavillon. He is effectively a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje. He has the same pace as Nortje, if not more, but not the right balance of accuracy. England wrist spinner Adil Rashid is a decent foil for Dupavillon.

Durban's Super Giants finished in second-last position at the end of the 2023, but in 2024 have collected three successive victories. With wins over the Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban have quickly put themselves among the genuine 2024 SA20 title contenders.
Their bowling resources have coped well in the absence of seamer Kyle Abbott, who was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The presence of England's Reece Topley has been key. He is one of the best left-arm seamers in world cricket and took three wickets in victory over the Super Kings recently.
Batting-wise, Heinrich Klaasen has characteristically remained at the fore. He was the franchise's leading run-scorer last SA20 season and is already their top scorer this year. Klaasen has hit 85, 13 not out and 64 this season. All three innings revealed his destructive best.
A fourth consecutive victory would put Durban a step closer to securing a berth in the play-offs. Defeat to the Capitals wouldn't necessarily dent their ambition to reach the next stage of the tournament, but merely motivate them more to get there.

SuperSport Park is one of the highest-scoring grounds in South Africa. A first-innings score of 190-plus here can be considered competitive, as the Royals showed with 210 at this venue earlier this week.
The Centurion ground is renowned for the pace it yields. Regardless, it's worth fielding two specialist slow bowlers here for the extra bounce, if not turn, on offer.

Jacks hit a brisk half-century in the Capitals' previous match. He should open the batting again - and have the opportunity to score quickly and freely during the powerplay.
Topley missed England's 2023 Cricket World Cup campaign due to injury. Since returning to competitive cricket, he has been bowling really well. As a left-armer, he has been especially successful against right-handers. Topley's previous SA20 appearance yielded three wickets.
