PERW vs BHW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 22, 2023

The new season of the WBBL is a chance for every team to start fresh, and both the Scorchers and Heat are jumping at the chance. The Scorchers finished at a fairly underwhelming 5th place last year, while the Heat came in 3rd place and lost out at a Finals spot by losing to the Strikers in the Challenger game.

There are several changes to the Scorchers squad, with additions such as Amy Jones, Stella Campbell, Chloe Ainsworth, Lisa Griffith, and Lauren Winfield-Hill (but only the first six games). The subtractions are Marizanne Kapp, Mathilda Carmichael, Maddy Green, Holly Ferling, and Georgia Wyllie.

For the Heat, there are a few less alterations, but coming in are Mignon du Preez, Bess Heath, and Lucy Hamilton, and going out are Danni Wyatt, Jess Kerr, and Zoe Cooke. Perth Scorchers Women vs. Brisbane Heat Women will take place at the North Sydney Oval on October 22nd. Visit our cricket betting tips page for advice on all major cricket matches.

PERW vs BHW Team Previews

Perth Scorchers Women

The Scorchers had a great start to the new WBBL campaign with a crushing 98-run victory over the Hurricanes, thanks largely to Devine’s epic 87 runs. It’s exactly the type of win that can inspire a team to do great things this season.

Perth had the league’s top scorer last season with Mooney (434 runs), so you can never sleep on the team with her in the side. Losing Kapp (229 runs) and Green (240) will be a gut-punch, but this will likely force Winfield-Hill and Devine into a bigger batting role.

It’s true that the Scorchers weren’t amazing at the bowling end last season, as King (17 wickets) and Mills (15) were far below other players in the league. Still, King had 3 wickets in the recent win and newbies Ainsworth and Campbell both had 2 wickets, so it’s a good start.

Perth Scorchers Women Playing 11

Beth Mooney, Lauren Winfield, Maddy Darke, Sophie Devine, Amy Jones, Amy Edgar, Piepa Cleary, Alana King, Lilly Mills, Chloe Cathryn Ainsworth, Stella Campbell.

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat also managed to kickstart the new season with a victory, after narrowly defeating the Renegades by only 6 runs. Grace Harris and Redmayne were unlucky not to pick up a half-century, as they were both dismissed on 49 runs! This sort of performance wasn’t too surprising, as Harris (297 runs) and Redmayne (354) were the team’s top scorers last season.

The batting is strengthened with du Preez entering the team for the first time, and Amelia Kerr coming back is great news, although she’ll miss the first few games of the season.

The Heat had three of the top 10 bowlers last season, and thankfully all three are back with the team now. Jonassen (25 wickets), Hancock (22), and Kerr (21) are expected to perform just as good, if not better, this season if there’s hope of the Heat getting to the Final. Keep an eye on Glenn and Knott, however, as these bowlers are poised for a big season with 7 combined wickets in the first game.

PERW vs BHW Toss Prediction

Teams bowling first is emblematic of this ground and most captains prefer to choose this option if winning the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

Spinners typically have a good time at the North Sydney Oval, as there’s a lot of good turn and grip. Low-scoring games are common here, so batters may have to work extra hard to find good shots. Weather is expected to be a very pleasant 29°C.

PERW vs BHW Betting Tips

The matchup is fairly even with these two teams, as the result finished 1-1 last season. The Mostbet odds are favouring the Heat at the moment, so we think it’s a better option for your money to bet on the Scorchers. The team is full of star players like Mooney and Devine, and if bowlers like King and Mills can take a step up, then it’ll be hard for the Heat.

The odds for Mooney and Devine aren't amazing, as they're clearly the best batters on the team. Still, opener Winfield-Hill is a reliable player and did pick up 27 runs in her first match. She made 254 runs for the Stars last season and will be eager to prove herself to her new team.

With 49 runs in her first match, Harris looks in form and is a good pick for best batter. It's actually a bit surprising that her odds are so good, as she was the second-leading scorer last season. Still, that's good for you to make money.

You can't ignore those odds! Campbell is young and fairly inexperienced, but she's full of talent and is one of the best up-and-coming pace bowlers in the team. She already took 2/10 in her first match, and given a chance, she can do much more. Worth a chance for sure.

A fair bit of luck is needed of course, but those are some pretty interesting odds for this match. If Perth dominates like we believe they will, then a small bet on this outcome could provide you with a substantial reward.
