Keeping Wolvaardt (403 runs in 2022) and Mack (350 runs) is big news for the batting lineup, although losing Dottin is hard to bear, as she scored 362 runs last season and was epic in the Final with 52*.
For the bowling, it appears as if fast bowler Darcie Brown will miss several games due to a hamstring injury. Although she was great last season with 16 wickets, the Strikers still have the services of Schutt (27 wickets) and Wellington (23 wickets), so the team shouldn’t be too worried. This will be Adelaide’s first game of the new season.

The Stars got off to a great start with this latest WBBL campaign with a victory over the Sixers by two runs. There’s much excitement to have Lanning back in the squad, as she missed the entire 2022 season due to injury. Lanning was instrumental in the first victory with 55 from 34 deliveries. Top scorer from last season, Sutherland (304 runs), was also solid with 34 runs.
Not just great with the bat, Sutherland also picked up 4 wickets, and was the team’s best bowler last season with 21 wickets. She has great help from Moloney, too, who had 20 wickets last year. The addition of Capsey for bowling and batting is a major boost to this Stars lineup, which is capable of much more from 2022.

The news is that the pitch at the Karen Rolton Oval has been renewed, so there will be little info to use until we see the games. The pitch has been deteriorating over the years, which forced the ground to update the surface for quality T20 games. It should offer a more balanced playing field for batters and bowlers.
