Pretoria have just one win to show for their 2024 SA20 campaign so far. Victory over Durban's Super Giants has been flanked by defeats to the Paarl Royals twice - and Joburg Super Kings and Eastern Cape. It's a tight tussle on the six-team points table, though, and one victory could put the Capitals back in contention for a play-off berth.
They have the opportunity to avenge defeat to the Sunrisers earlier this week, when the home side skittled the visitors to 52 all out. The Capitals were 25 without loss before losing 10 wickets for 27 runs in an dramatic collapse at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth.
Opener Will Jacks hit a century for the Capitals earlier in the tournament, but has collected a mere 13 runs in two innings since. He remains a big asset at the top of the order - and is also one of the best all-rounders in the SA20. Jacks, the spinner, will likely open the bowling again.
The Capitals brought Senuran Muthusamy and Daryn Dupavillon into the XI for the previous match. It'll be interesting to see if one or both are retained for this fixture. The spinner or fast bowler might need to make way for additional batting resources.

Victory against Pretoria again will likely catapult the Eastern Cape team to the top of this season's points table.
They signed Afghanistan fast bowler Fareed Ahmad recently. He has replaced England all-rounder Craig Overton in the squad. It will be interesting to see if Ahmad debuts in the SA20 on Thursday. Conditions in Centurion could benefit his pace and carry.
Local seamer Ottniel Baartman, meanwhile, is impressing in the absence of the injured Sisanda Magala. Baartman effectively spearheaded the Sunrisers' bowling attack with four key wickets against Pretoria earlier this week. In a T20 World Cup year, he is consistently reminding the national selectors of his talent in this format.
There is plenty of pressure on the reigning SA20 champions to succeed again this season. Their 2024 campaign has the makings of a successful title defence. Another big win over Pretoria would quieten doubters and show all they're genuine contenders again.
