NOR vs NOT Match Prediction - Jun 18, 2023

After Northamptonshire faces Lancashire, they’ll have yet another tough challenge when they battle Nottinghamshire. Things won’t be easy for (3-5) Northamptonshire, as Nottinghamshire (6-3) is the leader of the North Group with an epic four-game winning streak.

It’s possible that Nottinghamshire will take their foot off the pedal with such a big lead and assurance of a spot in the finals, but that seems unlikely in this competitive T20 Blast. N

orthamptonshire vs. Nottinghamshire will take place at County Ground, Northampton, on June 18th. Don't forget to visit these betting apps to get access to the best deals.

NOR vs NOT Team Previews

Northamptonshire

We'll have to see if Northamptonshire has enough batting power, as there are still question marks about Vasconcelos after his recent wrist injury. He'd been looking fantastic at the crease with 198 runs in total, but it's difficult to tell if he'll be the same after the schedule break.

It's hard not to love Chris Lynn's batting, as his motto is simply "Go hard or go home", meaning that you know he's always going to attempt as many boundaries as possible. This can lead to exciting innings like his 110* versus Leicestershire, but it can also mean that his wild shot-taking gets him a quick dismissal. You'd hope Zaib (199 runs) can take a leadership role, as his 70* proves he's got the talent to win matches.

Northamptonshire is really banking a lot on spinner Freddie Heldreich to help save them in games, as he's clearly their best bowler with fantastic stats of 14/183 for the season. It's no luck, either, as he took 4/27 against a great squad like Birmingham. Aussie pace bowler, Andrew Tye, is looking decent with 12 wickets taken so far, but we're not impressed by that 9.54 ER, as he's still giving up too many runs.

Nottinghamshire

While perhaps not as good as 7-1 Somerset in the South Group, Nottinghamshire have done well in dispatching weaker teams and continue to improve their record. It’s not hard to see why Nottinghamshire has become so dominant lately, as they have three of the top 15 run-scorers in the T20 Blast. Munro (295), Hales (293), and Clarke (283) have all been batting incredibly well and have shared the spotlight generously.

It’s great to see a team not relying on a single batter to get the job done. All three batters seem to fluctuate in terms of consistency and no one is yet to hit a century, but you know if one is having a bad game, then there’s two more to step up. Munro, however, is the biggest hitter of the trio, as he’s leading the league in sixes made with 20.

For the bowling, pacer Afridi is leading the team in wickets with 13, but he’s proving to be quite expensive, as he’s allowed a staggering 312 runs. His 3/39 performance is his best, and we’d like to see more of that. Patel’s 9/287 is solid, but we’re highly interested in seeing more of Jake Ball, who has bowled in only three innings but already taken 8/102. He’ll be a key part of Nottinghamshire’s season.

NOR vs NOT Toss Prediction

From 58 T20 games played at this ground, 33 teams have won when batting first. Scores of around 175 are typical for the first innings, so we’d expect the captain winning the toss to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The County Ground pitch is great for batters because there’s never an awful lot of pace or movement for bowlers. Spinners can be useful at times, but pace bowlers must expect a lot of boundaries and quick singles.

NOR vs NOT Betting Tips

Northamptonshire do have some talented players and the odds are very generous, but right now, we can’t see Nottinghamshire losing this game, as they’ve been excellent against the lower-ranking squads.

Nottinghamshire’s fantastic batting trio of Munro, Hales, and Clarke means that there’s always one batter that can take over the game and cause trouble for the opposition – good luck if all three are firing on the day.

Afridi can give away a lot of runs, but 13 wickets speaks for itself and he’s a lethal bowler. We’re excited to see Ball continue his recent great form, and he should pick up at least two wickets in this match.

Bet on Nottinghamshire to win.

The odds aren't quite as good as you'd like, but it's still a good bet to make. He hasn't played in many T20 games this season, but his freshness is an advantage. He has taken 8/102 in three innings, and we think he's got the momentum to take at least 2-3 wickets in this game.

Lynn can be spectacular at times, but there are also games where he takes risks and things don't work out. His 110* was great, but he's had four games under 25 runs since then. It's certainly possible he'll strike out early in this game and go below 23.5 runs.

    Nottinghamshire Top Batter: Colin Munro

He's definitely got the best odds compared to Hales and Clarke, as we think Munro has the ability to take over games. While his 1 run against Derbyshire was a shock, he still had scores of 49 & 87 recently, and there's hope he can build on this momentum to have try a century. He has the most sixes out of any player in the league (20) and has 295 total runs, so he can do something special.
