Leicestershire

It has been a pretty mediocre effort by Leicester this season. The team has managed to win just 2 of the 10 matches it has played so far this season and is languishing at the bottom of the North Group points table. With just 4 points against its name, the team just has a theoretical chance of making it to the next stage.

Rishi Patel has been the best batsman among the lot for Leicester so far. He has scored 318 runs, including a century, and is the top run-getter for the team. However, he hasn’t received much support at the other end, as the likes of Nick Welch, Colin Ackermann, and Wiaan Mulder haven’t been very consistent.

Peter Handscomb, who played his first match of the season last time around, looked to be in decent touch and the team will be banking on him to put up a good performance here.

It is a similar story with the bowling too. Callum Parkinson has taken 11 wickets so far and is the leading wicket-taker for Leicester. But he has received little support from the other bowlers.

Rehan Ahmed has bowled well in patches, while Colin Ackermann, Michael Finn, and Matt Salisbury have failed to reign in the opposition’s batting. 

Nottinghamshire

While Nottinghamshire hasn’t been the most consistent team around, it has done enough to keep itself in the hunt for the playoffs. Nottingham has won 6 matches so far and is at 12 points, much like 3 other teams at the top of the table. The only thing separating these 4 is NRR and a big win here will give Nottingham a big advantage.

Nottinghamshire will be banking on its strong batting order to see it through here. Alex Hales, Joe Clarke, and Colin Munro are in excellent form, and together, the trio has done the bulk of the scoring for the team. That said, Nottingham has a strong middle order at its disposal as the likes of Tom Moores, Samit Patel, Matthew Montgomery, and Steven Mullaney are all capable of scoring big runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the seam attack for the team here. He is the top wicket-taker for the team with 14 wickets. Jake Ball and Mullaney will play the supporting role here. Samit Patel has bowled well for his 11 wickets, and along with Matthew Carter and Matthew Montgomery, will take care of the spin.
