GLO vs HAM Match Prediction - Jun 20, 2023

Gloucestershire is going to have one of their toughest matches in a long time, when they face reigning champions, Hampshire. Things are in need of a turnaround for Gloucestershire, as they’ve lost three games in a row and currently sit at 7th spot on the table.

Hampshire is looking good, but it’s fair to say that they’ve been better in previous seasons. The team has a decent 6-4 record, but holds the fourth spot in the South Group tentatively. A few dropped games for Hampshire and they could fall out of the knockout round.

Gloucestershire vs. Hampshire will take place at the County Ground, Bristol, on June 20th. These betting apps can give you most up-to-date bets.

GLO vs HAM Team Previews

Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire has had a pretty tough schedule, with three losses to great teams like Kent, Somerset, and Glamorgan, but those defeats are starting to pile up and it won’t get any easier against Hampshire.

A stable batting lineup seems to be one of the major problems with Gloucestershire, as there’s no one that can be trusted to deliver on a regular basis. Charlesworth has looked good at times with 230 total runs, but his best is 56 and he’s often picking up ducks or scores below 15.

Hammond is doing fine with 208 runs, but we want to see more from opener Roelofsen, who had a slow start but is batting well now with regular scores around 30.

The bowling effort against Kent was pretty weak, with only one wicket taken and two run outs. Much like the batting, there’s not enough of a presence by anyone to scare the opposing players.

Payne, Oliver Smith, and Price have all had recent stretches of taking zero wickets across two games, which just can’t happen for a team desperate for wins. Payne is certainly the best overall bowler for the team and looks solid, however, with 11/217 and an ER of 6.38.

Grant Roelofsen, Miles Hammond, Ben Charlesworth, Oliver Price, Ben Wells, GLV Buuren, Tom Price, Matthew David Taylor, Tom Smith, David Payne, Zafar Gohar.

Hampshire

Hampshire’s two straight losses don’t look as bad now after that big win over Surrey. The team still does rely a lot on batter Vince, but there should be enough talent in the squad to get into the finals.

Vince is still looking great and is the second-highest-scoring batter this season with 476 total runs (average of 79.33). His 103 against Essex was his best, but there’s still much more needed from him. There was some concern with his duck and then eight runs across two games, but the 62* in another victory put everything right again.

Both McDermott (301) and Weatherley (214) are making great contributions, and this is just what Hampshire requires to stay competitive, as Vince can’t do it all alone. McDermott and Weatherley have had several half-centuries in their last five matches.

The return of pace bowler Benny Howell is a welcome piece of news, as it simply gives Hampshire more experienced options, and he’s already picked up two wickets in two games.

The match against Surrey seemed to bring out the best in everyone, as Wood, Turner, and Ellis all had three wickets each. Hampshire is unbeatable when their batters and bowlers are firing, with Ellis especially the one to take the reigns with 14/249 overall (ER 6.91). Turner and Dawson have bowled well with 11 wickets, so we hope they can continue this form.

Hampshire Playing 11

Ben McDermott, James Vince, Toby Albert, Joe Weatherley, Liam Dawson, James Fuller, Benny Howell, Ross Whiteley, Chris Wood, Nathan Ellis, John Turner.

GLO vs HAM Toss Prediction

At this venue, teams typically like to chase, as in 27 out of 44 T20 games, the side batting second has prevailed. If winning the toss, the captain would be smart to bowl first.

Pitch and Conditions

The County Ground is ideal for hitting because even with a new ball, the batters can find a decent line. Particularly in night games, the surface appears to perform better in the second innings.

GLO vs HAM Betting Tips

The favourite will definitely be Hampshire based on the Satbet odds, but if you feel like taking a chance, then it’s not a bad bet to take Gloucestershire. Their odds to win are very generous, and they have good players to get things done.

Hampshire has won the last three games against Gloucestershire, but these were all very close and could have swung either way. If Charlesworth and Hammond can each pick up a half-century, and Payne, Oliver Smith, and Price can contain Vince’s insane batting, then Gloucestershire can certainly earn a big victory.

Bet on Gloucestershire to win.

    Gloucestershire Best Bowler: Oliver Price

He's had two games with zero wickets, but surely that needs to change now? Price is a talented bowler and it's unlikely he'll go a third game without a wicket. He's on 10/146 at the moment, and had great efforts like 3/21 this season. The odds are very generous and the return is solid for choosing Oliver Price.

    Hampshire Top Batter: Joe Weatherley

Weatherley has 214 total runs, but more than that, he's doing it consistently. Weatherley's scores have included 33, 67, and 59*, so it's not impossible that he can be the top scorer. The odds for choosing McDermott or Vince are hardly worth it, so go with Weatherley.

Grant Roelofsen To Score 50: Yes

His highest score is 34 this season, but Roelofsen is bound to get a 50 at least once, right? He's underperformed this season, but we think there's a good chance that he'll break out of his slump, as he's had scores of 29 and 33 in his last five matches.
