Karnataka

Karnataka's first match of the season was washed away due to rain and it was forced to share points with Tamil Nadu. Nevertheless, the team will like to get full points from this game.

Karnataka made it to the quarter-finals in the last season but their campaign was cut short after suffering a defeat at the hands of Punjab. Skipper Mayank Agarwal will look to make amends and put up a better performance this time around.

He has a strong batting line-up at his disposal, thanks to the presence of batsmen like Manish Pandey, Devdutt Padikkal, Abhinav Manohar, and Krishnan Shrijith. Some of these players have plenty of experience playing in the IPL which will come in handy during this contest.

In the bowling department, Prasidh Krishna is likely to lead the pace attack alongside Vijaykumar Vyshak and Vidhwat Kaverappa, while Krishnappa Gowtham and Praveen Dubey will feature in the spin department. 

Madhya Pradesh

Just like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh’s opening fixture was washed out too. They lost their second match against Delhi by 7 wickets and are currently languishing at the bottom of the Group E table.

Opting to bat first, it was a poor batting effort from Madhya Pradesh as the team was able to score just 115 runs from their quota of 20 overs. The top order, consisting of batsmen like Venkatesh Iyer, Rajat Patidar, Parth Sahani, and Shubham Sharma suffered a collapse as the team was 5 wickets down with just 37 runs on the board.

However, a good partnership between Rakesh Thakur and Rahul Batham ensured that the team crossed the 100-run mark. Kumar Karikeya and Saransh Jain bowled well in the context of the game but given the low target, MP didn’t have much chance of defending it.

The team does have a couple of experienced seamers in the form of Avesh Khan and Arshad Khan, but the duo will need to put up a more disciplined effort, especially against the strong batting unit of Karnataka.
