Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir outfit has lost all their 3 games before this in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They lost their last game to Haryana, Hyderabad, and Baroda respectively. In their last game against Haryana played yesterday in Jaipur, they ended up on the losing side by a margin of 73 runs. Batting first, Haryana scored 178 runs for the loss of 3 wickets from their 20 overs. In their reply, Jammu and Kashmir scored 105 runs all out. The entire Jammu and Kashmir team was bowled out in 17.3 overs.

The Haryana innings was built around the efforts of Ankit Kumar who scored 89 runs not out. Three bowlers from the Jammu and Kashmir team picked up a wicket apiece in their effort. These three were Yudhvir Singh, Abid Mushtaq, and Umran Malik. However, Abid Mushtaq returned with the best figures of 4-0-20-1. Other Jammu and Kashmir bowlers apart from these three went wicketless although Rasikh Salam bowled well for his 4 overs going for just 24 runs. Umran Malik went for a lot of runs in his 4 overs although he picked up a wicket.

The Jammu and Kashmir innings ran into troubled waters immediately during their chase. They lost the wicket of Vivrant Sharmar early on in the first over of their inning. But despite all the mayhem around him, Fazal Rashid played a terrific inning to score 61 runs from 50 balls with 4 fours. He will be the player to watch out for in this game against Mumbai as well. Only one other batter from Jammu and Kashmir succeeded in reaching double figures. The Jammu and Kashmir batting will have to pull up their socks to do well against a good Mumbai bowling attack. 

Mumbai

The Mumbai outfit has done a great job in the competition thus far. They have won all their last three games in the 2023 season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and are currently leading the points tally for Group A. They have succeeded in recording wins against Baroda, Meghalaya, and Haryana respectively. Mumbai played their last game in the competition against Baroda. Batting first, Mumbai scored 142 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Their bowlers did a good job after this to restrict Baroda to 139 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs.

Mumbai won their last game against Baroda with a margin of 3 runs. Mumbai managed to raise a decent total on the board thanks mainly to the efforts of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube who scored 38 and 35 runs respectively. Jaiswal hit his 38 runs in 33 balls with 5 fours while Dube scored 35 runs from 30 balls with 5 boundaries. The Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane also contributed 22 runs with 2 fours and 1 six. Shams Mulani scored 17 runs from 12 balls with 2 fours to take the Mumbai total to a respectable one.

The Mumbai bowling attack was right on the money in their defense. They picked early wickets to reduce Baroda to 20 for 3 in 6.1 overs. But the Baroda skipper Krunal Pandya played a big innings scoring 62 runs from 50 balls to keep the Baroda hopes alive. However, the Baroda bowlers were not to be denied. Tushar Deshpande was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai picking up 3 wickets for 20 runs from his 4 overs. All the Mumbai bowlers picked up at least 1 wicket. This shows the discipline of the Mumbai bowling attack. You can expect them to continue all the good work in this game as well.
