The easy win can be attributed mainly to the England bowlers. The English bowlers were right on the money during the Sri Lankan innings and bundled up the Lankan innings for 106 runs. Three bowlers picked up 3 wickets each for England. The pick of them was Mahila Gaur with 3 for 26. Lauren Flier and Sarah Glenn also picked up 3 wickets each while Alice Capsey chipped in with one wicket. These bowlers rattled the Lankan batting badly and cut through their top and middle order. The key players for England in the second game of the series are Alice Capsey, Sarah Glenn, and Maia Bouchier.

Mahika Gaur was mainly responsible for rocking the boat of Sri Lankan innings up front. She removed both the Sri Lankan openers who were in good form. She also returned later to remove the last wicket to seal a win. The English chase began well with Emma Lamb and Tammy Beaumont adding 61 runs for the first wicket. This was followed by the skipper Heather Knight contributing 22 runs from 22 balls with 3 fours. Although none of the English batswomen could score a big total, they were never really challenged either.

Sri Lanka Women

The Sri Lankan women had a disastrous day out in the field. Batting first Sri Lankan women were bowled out for a score of 106 runs. The top run-getter for Sri Lanka was Harshitha Madhavi. She scored 35 runs for Sri Lanka. None of the other batters could score over 10 runs let alone build an innings. The Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu was involved in a brilliant T20 international series. She will need to contribute big runs if Sri Lankans have to make a comeback in this one-day international series.

The Sri Lankan bowlers were asked to defend a small total. It was a nigh impossible task for the bowlers. As expected, they could not trouble the England batters too much. Although some of the Sri Lankan bowlers such as Inoka Ranaweera, Oshadi Ranasinghe, and Kavisha Dilhari managed to pick up a wicket apiece they never troubled the English batters much. Another bowler Achini Kalusiriya also bowled economically but could not pick up any wickets. The key players for Sri Lankan women are Kavisha Dilhari, Chamari Athapaththu, and Harshitha Samarawickrama.

The Sri Lankan looked as if they would get off to a flyer for the first few overs. But after the wicket of their mercurial skipper Chamari Athapaththu none of the other batters could offer much of a resistance to the England women. Harshitha Samarawickrama scored 35 runs from 44 balls with 2 fours. During the England run chase some of their bowlers looked promising but none of them threatened enough to uproot the England innings. The England women reached the target easily in the end for the loss of 3 wickets in their 18th over.
