England Women

In the last T20 international game of the series between these two countries, English women were bowled out for a mediocre total of 116 runs. The top run-getter for England was Maia Boucher who hit 23 runs. Other batters such as Alice Capsey, Danielle Gibson, Amy Jones, and Heather Knight all appeared promising but none of them went on to register a big score. The English batting was once again bowled out for a small score as the Sri Lankan women did a great containment job over the English women.

The English bowling attack was successful in picking up just 8 wickets from their 3 games in the T20I series. Sraha Glenn did a fair job against Lankan women in their last match to pick up 2 wickets for 23 runs. Alice Capsey also picked up a wicket. But the batters had failed to put up sufficient score on the board and as a result, the bowlers were left to do too much work. English women played their last match against Australian women on 18th July this year in Taunton, England. This game was a part of the Australian women's tour of England.

Batting first, England women raised a good total of 285 runs for the loss of 9 wickets from their quota of 50 overs. The Australian women were never in contention for a successful chase. They were bowled out for a score of 199 runs from 35.3 overs. Their target was revised to 269 runs from 44 overs due to rain. Nat Sciver Brunt was adjudged player of the match for her hundred and she also picked up a wicket. Sciver-Brunt hit 129 runs from 149 balls to take the English total to a respectable one. She was also picked as the player of the series.  

Sri Lanka Women

Similar to the T20I series, the Sri Lankan women will once again be led by the mercurial Chamari Athapaththu. She was adjudged player of the match in the 2nd and 3rd T20I games. She was also awarded the Player of the series award for the T20I series against the British. Athaaththu scored 114 runs in the series and also picked up 5 wickets. Other batters such as Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and Anushka Sanjeewani played useful hands from the other end helping their skipper in the T20I series.

The Sri Lankan bowlers did a good job as a unit as they bundled out their opposition for scores of 104 runs and 116 runs in their last couple of games. The Sri Lankan bowling attack was led by Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari with 5 wickets each. Some other bowlers such as Inoka Ranaweera, Sugnadika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadarshani, and Udeshila Prabhodani also chipped in with important wickets in the series. Some key members of the Sri Lankan squad are Kavisha Dilhari, Harshita Samarawickrama, and their skipper Chamari Athapaththu.

Sri Lankan women played their last one-day match against New Zealand women. This match was played in Galle, Sri Lanka as a part of the ICC Women's Championship on 3rd July. Batting first, New Zealand women could score just 127 runs from 31 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Rain interrupted during the match and the Sri Lankan women were asked to chase 196 runs from 29 overs as the D/L equation came into play. Guess what! Chamari Athapaththu was the player of the match for this game as well. She hit 140 not out from just 80 balls to take her team to an easy win.
