ENG vs NZ Team Previews

England

After putting up 2 dominating performances, England faltered in the 3rd T20 on Sunday to face one of its heaviest defeats in the shortest format in terms of runs.

On a rare occasion, all the top-order batsmen failed to fire for England as the team lost 4 wickets with just 55 runs on the board. However, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali managed to put on some sort of resistance to help the team reach a respectable total as they tried to chase a mammoth target of 203 runs.

There are plenty of good batsmen in the team including the likes of Johnny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, and Harry Brook and England will bank on them to bounce back. Coming to the bowling, Gus Atkinson continued with his good run, picking up 2 wickets, and appeared to be the only one who could keep the rampant New Zealanders under control.

The spinners were taken for over 10 runs per over, while Chris Jordan and Luke Wood were pretty ineffective too. England will look at this performance as just a minor setback and hope to come back stronger.

New Zealand

New Zealand finally seems to have adapted to the conditions in England and put up a scintillating performance to keep the series alive.

Finn Allen, who is known for his attacking style of batting, was at his aggressive best as he scored 83 from 53 balls. He received good support from Glenn Phillips, who also scored his half-century from just 27 deliveries. While the team will revel in the success of these two batsmen, there is still a lot of scope for improvement when it comes to other batsmen.

Devon Conway has struggled so far and managed to score just 14 runs in 3 innings. Tim Seifert has been unable to convert his starts into big innings, while Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner have failed to perform with the bat.

In the bowling department, Ish Sodhi exploited the dry conditions at Birmingham to claim 3 wickets and is now the joint-highest wicket-taker for this tournament.

The seamers were in prime form too, as Matt Henry, Tim Southee, and Kylie Jamison picked up 6 wickets between them. <br />

ENG vs NZ Toss Prediction

The teams batting first have enjoyed a slight advantage at Trent Bridge, winning 8 of the 13 T20s played on the ground. We, therefore, think that the winner of the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

Trent Bridge generally offers a flat deck and is good to bat on. The average first-inning score on this surface is around 165. There is a good amount of pace and bounce for the quicker bowlers but very little in terms of lateral movement. The ball does tend to hold a bit as the match progresses, aiding the spinners. Anything over 175-180 will be tricky to chase.

The weather will be clear and pleasant with temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius.

ENG vs NZ Betting Tips

New Zealand mounted a stunning comeback in the 3rd ODI and will be brimming with confidence when they take the field. However, the home team is well poised to exploit the conditions and is likely to prevail. That said, we can expect a closely-fought match.

The pitch at Trent Bridge is more helpful for the spinners as compared to the quicker bowlers. Ish Sodhi has done well on this trip and is the leading wicket-taker for New Zealand. Seeing the surface, there is a good chance that he will continue bowling well.
