Assam

The Assam team is going into this game with a couple of games under their belt in their two contests. These two victories came against Kerala and Himachal Pradesh. They played their last game of the league stage of the competition against Kerala. This Group B game was played in Mumbai. The Assam team succeeded in registering a victory by a margin of 2 wickets with 3 balls to spare. Batting first, the Kerala team could manage just a modest score of 127 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. But the Assam team made heavy work of this target during the chase.

Assam succeeded in chasing down the target with 3 balls and 2 wickets to spare. The pick of the bowlers for Assam was Avinov Choudhury who picked up 2 wickets for 21 runs from his 4 overs. Most of the Assam bowlers were on target in this game and recorded good economy rates except Akash Sengupta who went for runs at an economy rate of 9.75. Apart from Choudhury, several other bowlers picked up 1 wicket apiece such as Mrinmoy Dutta, Ruyan Parag, Akash Sengupta, and Sibsankar Roy. Assam will rely on these bowlers again to get the job done against Bengal.

During their chase, Assam lost an early wicket of Denish Das. But there was a good contribution for the second wicket between Pradyun Saikia and Sumit Ghadigaonkar. But the real impetus to the Assam batting was provided by Riyan Parag. The Assam skipper remained unbeaten on 57 runs from 33 balls with as many as 6 sixes and 1 four. Sibsankar Roy also scored 16 runs to develop a partnership with Parag that took them closer to the target. Although Assam ended up losing 8 wickets before reaching the target, the skipper held his nerve to get his side across the line in the last over of the innings. 

Bengal

Similar to the Assam team, the Bengal team is also going into this game with a couple of victories against Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. Bengal played their last game in the competition against Jharkhand in Mullanpur on 25th October. Bengal team batted first in this game to get a good score on the board. They ended up hitting 177 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. The Bengal bowlers held on to their nerves while Jharkhand reached 172 runs for the loss of 6 wickets from their quota of 20 overs.

The Bengal team started their inning well with their openers scoring 48 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs. Only 3 batters out of the 10 batters that played in this inning managed to reach double figures during the Bengal inning. But the two batters that took the Bengal total to a good one were Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ranjot Khaira. Easwaran was largely instrumental in the Bengal team managing to put together a good score on the board. He smashed 87 runs from 55 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours during his innings.

Ranjot Khaira also scored 39 runs from 35 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four. Several Jharkhand top-order batters got off to a good start but none of them reached the 50-run mark. Despite a valiant attempt to reach the target, Jharkhand fell short by 5 runs. The pick of the bowlers for Bengal was Sakshaim Chaudhury who picked up 2 wickets for 33 runs from his 4 overs. Other Jharkhand bowlers who did a good job with the ball were Akash Deep, Ishan Porel, and Kieran Lal. The Bengal team will look at these bowlers to get them vital breakthroughs in this game as well.
