The Mumbai ladies will be looking to target the boundary. They hit 25 boundary fours against the star-studded Royal Challengers Women bowling lineup. This bet should be a strong one based on the batting lineup’s recent form.
This bet will definitely come as a high risk one, but may be unbelievably beneficial. With the moving new ball, the opening batters may be tentative and could potentially get a feinty behind. The opening wicket of the previous match for the Mumbai Indians Women against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women was the loss of Smriti Mandhana to a catch behind.
The Gujarat Giants will look to get back to winning ways as they take on the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Women’s Premier League. The two teams will faceoff on Tuesday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Recent results in the WPL between these two teams show that neither has really taken control of this head-to-head. Mumbai Indians Women have won three of the last five matches. UP Warriorz Women have won two of those five matches. Mumbai Indians Women won the most recent encounter by 42 runs.
Mumbai Indians Women will take on UP Warriorz Women at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 for this WPL match. The Sports 18 Channel and the JioCinema app will provide live coverage in the form of a TV broadcast and live-streaming in India.
Wicketkeeper-batter and local talent Yastika Bhatia will be kickstarting the innings as one of the two opening batters. West Indian Hayley Matthews walks out beside her and will be looking to make an equally important contribution in the powerplay. The powerful all-rounder has 483 runs and 29 wickets in the WPL.
Leading the side from Mumbai is the dynamic Harmanpreet Kaur. Her aggressive batting and astute leadership were pivotal in clinching the inaugural WPL title in 2023. She will be looking to repeat the feat with her knowledge of that campaign. The captain scored an important half-century against Bangalore Women in her previous WPL innings.
Supporting her is England's all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt with her all-round match-winning capabilities. She slammed 42 runs off only 21 balls. The middle to late order of the Mumbai Indians Women batting lineup features a plethora of all-rounders, particularly Indian all-rounders and young batter Kamalini Gunalan.
Amanjot Kaur took three wickets and scored 34 runs unbeaten in her previous match. They will be banking on the strength of their local players and the inclusion of New Zealander Amelia Kerr.
The bowling lineup will be dependant on the international talent and experience of speedster Shabnim Ismail. Ismail has taken a wicket in each of her three WPL matches this season. She has the spin twins of Gupta and Sisodia to back up her efforts with the ball.
Both will be key after the powerplay. 20-year-old Gupta took a wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women.
The Warriorz Women will start their innings with two local Indian talents in the form of Kivan Navgire and Dinesh Vrinda. Navgire has three WPL half-centuries. At the helm of this exciting lineup is captain Deepti Sharma.
The Indian national player’s leadership guides the team’s ambitious aspirations in this tournament. Her all-round talent has taken her to 1086 runs and 138 wickets in Women’s T20s internationally.
The squad boasts a diverse lineup with all-rounders like Tahlia McGrath and Chinelle Henry. Australia international McGrath has over 1000 runs and 20 wickets at Women’s T20I level. Henry hit 62 runs against DC Women.
The English Sophie Ecclestone will be a star with the spinning ball. Ecclestone’s most important contribution against the Royal Challengers ladies was with the bat when she hit 33 runs off 19 balls. Their international experience and flavour add significant strength. Grace Harris and wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry will dictate the tempo in the middle to late batting order.
Homegrown talents such as Shweta Sehrawat, Saima Thakor and Kranti Goud will need to form the nucleus of the team going forward if the team is to succeed. Sehrawat contributed with 31 runs against the reigning champions. Goud took an incredible four wickets against the Capitals Women.
The teams could prefer chasing in this game. Mumbai Indians Women won their previous WPL match by chasing. The UP Warriorz Women won their previous match against this opposition by chasing.
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will provide batting-friendly conditions. These are attributed to consistent bounce and shorter boundaries. Notably, during the 2016 Women's World T20, India Women posted their highest total at this venue, scoring 163 for five in 20 overs against Bangladesh Women.
The spinners may be the type of bowlers who are likely to be wicket-taking options.
Weather conditions will be cloudy on Wednesday. Despite being overcast, temperatures will be warm and humid. There is a five percent chance of rain on the day.
The Mumbai Indians Women have arguably made the bigger strides this season after starting slowly. They beat the defending champions recently and have more world-class players in their squad. The UP Warriorz Women struggled at the start before beating one of the two WPL finalists in 2024. We still don't think they can be relied upon, though.
Bet on Mumbai Indians Women to win this match.
