WI vs IRE Match Preview

West Indies has played two matches against teams that do not have great bowling attacks and in both of them, its batting struggled. Kyle Mayers looks to be short of confidence, Evin Lewis is unable to hit the ball off the square, and Nicholas Pooran just keeps making strange shot choices. Alzarri Joseph was brilliant in the previous match. He bowled with pace and kept on plugging away with wickets. Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, and Akel Hosein are all bowling well also.

It is encouraging that Lorcan Tucker, Andrew Balbirnie, and Harry Tector also got a few runs in the previous match but the poor form of Paul Stirling is a massive problem. Despite his lack of form, Ireland has shown that it has a decent batting lineup with more depth than is immediately obvious. It may not have the power that the West Indies does but it is more than capable of scoring runs.

Joshua Little is dangerous up front but apart from him, the rest of the bowling can be taken apart.

Weather Report

The weather forecast for Hobart is quite good and it looks as if we should not have any major interruptions.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Bellerive Oval has been a bit two-paced and that is perhaps why players have struggled to take full advantage of the short boundaries.

Still, we think 160-170 should be the least that teams batting first will aim for.

Notable stats

Alzarri Joseph in Top Gear

Alzarri Joseph seems to have taken a liking to the Aussie conditions. he has six wickets in the two matches he has played and looked streets ahead of the rest of the West Indian bowlers.

Team News

West Indies may look to change up its batting lineup a bit with perhaps Evin Lewis the one to miss out.

Dream11 Prediction

We think the West Indies will be pushed in this contest by a good Irish team but it will have en tough to persevere in the end.

Top Picks

Rovman Powell - The only West Indian batter that has looked in good touch, Powell is very dangerous down the order. He could take advantage of an Irish bowling attack that lacks a genuine death bowler.

Harry Tector - A poor outing in the T20 World Cup so far would have disappointed Tector. He has the technique and the temperament. It is just about spending enough time at the crease.

Alzarri Joseph - The undisputed leader of the bowling lineup, Jospeh is going to come hard at the Irish batters once more. His pace could rattle some Irish wickets and help you gain a clutch of points.
