WI vs IND Match Preview

West Indies started the T20 series in style with a win against India. Brandon King teed off in style and scored 28 runs before he was scalped by Chahal. With runs under his belt. King will look to build upon his form and play a big inning in this match. The form of Kyle Mayer remains a bit of a concern as his poor form with the bat in the ODIs seems to have spilled over to the T20s too.

Nicholas Pooran on the other hand continued with his purple patch and scored a well-made 41 from 34 deliveries. Skipper Rovman Powell led the late charge and his 48-run inning was the key to taking the hosts to a respectable total. The West Indies will need to find a way to get around India’s potent spin attack during the middle overs.

The bowlers were outstanding as they held the fort against a strong Indian batting line-up. Akeal Hosein bowled a good spell early on to put the opposition under pressure, while Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd picked up 2 wickets each to derail the chase in the second half of the innings.

The Indian bowlers were up to the mark as they limited West Indies to a modest total. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were especially impressive as they picked up 3 wickets between them and gave away just 44 runs in their 7 overs together.

The seamers will need to be more disciplined with their line and length as they were quite expensive. The onus to perform better will also lie on the batsmen. While Ishan Kishan suffered a rare failure on this tour, his opening partner Shubhman Gill hasn’t been at his fluent best.

The same can be said about Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson. Tilak Varma was very impressive, especially this being his debut match as he scored top-scored for India with 39 runs. He will once play an important role in the middle order along with Suryakumar Yadav.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain warm and humid and we can expect some drizzling during the day.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Providence Stadium is well-balanced. There is some help for the seamers early on but the batsmen will be able to play the big shots once they get their eye in. The average first-inning score on this ground is around 160, which is a par score.
