SRH vs MI Match Preview
Harry Brook, who was bought by the Sunrisers for a whopping price of ₹13.5 crores for this season, finally lived up to his bill by smashing the season’s first century and propelling SRH to a match-winning total of 228 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their latest outing. Hhis strike-rate against pace was excellent but he was not too convincing against spin.
Skipper Aiden Markram scored a half-century (his inning was perhaps the pivotal period in the match) while Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen too got some runs in that match and that should give them a lot of confidence. However, Mayank Agarwal is going through an extended lean patch and will need to recover soon to take the pressure off the other batsmen.
Hyderabad's bowling can be considered pace-heavy as they have some quality spinners in the form of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik. But it is Mayank Markande who has stolen the limelight in his 2 appearances so far, by picking up 6 wickets.
Markande vs Rohit/David/Green are going to be very important contests.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have given the team a good start in the last couple of matches and will be looking to do so again here. Keep in mind that Rohit has just one 50 in his previous 25 IPL innings and Ishan Kishan is quite inconsistent as well.
Tilak Varma has been a consistent performer in the number-3 position and by far the best batter for MI in IPL 2023.
Surya Kumar Yadav, who had a relatively quiet tournament so far, finally managed to get some runs in the last game against the Knight Riders and would have gained some confidence. The Mumbai Indians have some promising batsmen lower down the order like Tim David, Cameron Green, and Nehal Wadhera lower down the order but they haven’t been consistent enough. Just like the batsmen, the bowlers too have picked up some form over the last couple of matches.
Jason Behrendorff and Piyush Chawla both picked up 3-wicket hauls in the last match and will be looking to put up a similar performance here. Riley Meredith and Hrithik Shokeen have picked up wickets too but have been quite expensive.
Piyush Chawla could be crucial in tying down Brook. We also expect Hrithink Shokeen to bowl with the new ball.

The track at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is pretty dry and there is hardly any grass on the surface. We might see some movement for the quicker bowlers early on but the pitch should settle down nicely as the match progresses. The spinners will be able to exploit the cracks on the surface and get some spin.
