SRH vs LSG Match Preview

The Sunrisers have won 2 of their last 3 matches, thanks to some excellent batting performances by the top and middle-order batsmen. Abhishek Sharma has been playing well after his promotion to the opening slot and scored half-centuries in both those wins.

In addition to Sharma, Rahul Tripathi has contributed well with the bat and is the highest run-scorer for SRH this season. Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram lend stability to the middle order. We liked that Klaasen was allowed to come in early in the previous match and that should be the idea in this match as well. Markram is a world-class player but it just struggling to find his rhythm right now.

Glenn Phillips played an excellent cameo in the last match and will be looking to score runs at the death along with Abdul Samad. Phillips is greatly improved as a T20 player and him replacing Harry Brook is a massively positive sign for SRH.

The Sunrisers have one of the strongest pace attacks in the league, at least on paper. But the on-paper strength hasn’t translated into on-field performance.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, and T Natarajan have all gone for over 8 runs per over. Mayank Markande has been the standout performer for the team, taking 11 wickets in 8 matches. This bolwing unit is up against a strong batting lineup and will need to be at its best.

Expect some overs from Markram and Phillips in the middle to help give SRH some flexibility.

Kyle Mayers has been pretty consistent at the top of the order for the Lucknow Super Giants and is also their leading run-scorer this season. With KL Rahul out of action for the rest of the tournament, he is joined by Quinton de Kock, who scored a brilliant half-century in his debut match of the season.

We have seen how aggressive both Mayers and de Kock can be at the start but they tend to slow down once the pace is taken off the ball. They need to stay aggressive and trust the batters that are coming after.

With Deepak Hooda still struggling to score runs, there will be added pressure on Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran to score runs here. Krunal Pandya does add some depth to the batting but he hasn’t been in the best of forms this season with the bat or with the ball.

LSG has to realize that holding back both Stoinis and Pooran for the last five overs is not working out for them. At least one, if not both, of these betters needs to come up the order.

The bowling hasn’t been the best for the LSG this season. The seamers have been very expensive for them so far and have also failed to take wickets at regular intervals. Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan are expected to start the proceedings with the new ball here.

Ravi Bishnoi is the only specialist spinner who has featured regularly and is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 12 wickets.

Weather Report

Since this is a day game, dew will not be a factor and we can expect temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The pitch here is a bit on the drier side and there isn’t much grass on the surface. There isn’t much here for the quicker bowlers but the spinners might be able to get some turn. However, they will need to bowl a good line. Anything above 180 will be a bit tricky to chase here.

Notable stats

Heinrich Klaasen’s Explosive Batting

Klaasen is known for his hard-hitting skills and this season has been no different for him. He has scored 215 runs so far at a phenomenal strike rate of 185.34.

Team News

There are no updates regarding injuries from either side.

We are backing the Lucknow Super Giants to win here. They enjoy an unblemished record against the SRH so far. They have a stronger batting line-up when compared to their opponents which can be a key difference here. Also, SRH’s home record this season hasn’t been too good.
