RR vs RCB Match Preview

Yashasvi Jaiswal is in sublime form this season and played a blistering knock in the last match, scoring his 4th half-century of the season. He reached the 50-run mark in just 13 deliveries, making it the fastest-ever half-century in the history of IPL. Calls for him to be fast-tracked into the Indian team are becoming louder and it remains to be seen just how long before he makes it.

He has an excellent opening partner in the form of Jos Buttler, and together, they will be looking to give a good start to the team here. Buttler was run-out after a mix-up in the previous match. His previous inning shows that he is in good form, though, and we expect another big contribution from him.

Sanju Samson has returned to form and that will be a big bonus for the team. The Royals have plenty of depth in their batting, thanks to players like Joe Root, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Dhruv Jurel.

The bowlers have also played an important part in getting the team to this position. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled yet another brilliant spell in the last match and is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament now.

He has an excellent partner in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin, who has 14 wickets against his name. Trent Boult will once again lead the pace attack and will be joined by Sandeep Sharma and KM Asif.

The over-reliance on the top 3 batsmen has hurt Bangalore pretty hard lately. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli have been one of the top opening pairs of the tournament, while Glenn Maxwell has followed up with some particularly good knocks.

We mentioned this when RCB played last but Virat's recent contributions have been poor. He is trying to play more aggressively but that style does not come naturally to him. As great a player he has been, we would not really pick him right now for either the different betting markets or for fantasy contests.

The batsmen lower down have struggled to perform and that has been the case for quite some time now.

The next best batsman in terms of average is Mahipal Lomror, who has an average of 22.17 despite scoring one half-century, while Dinesh Kartik has scored runs at the rate of 14.00 per inning. The team does have some depth in their batting thanks to all-rounders like Kedar Jadhav and Wanindu Hasaranga but they haven’t been able to leverage this advantage.

Talking about the bowling, Mohammed Siraj has bowled a couple of brilliant spells this season and is the leading wicket-taker for the team. He has received good support from Harshal Patel but the latter has been a bit expensive. Similarly, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Wanindu Hasaranga have picked up wickets but haven’t been able to contain the runs.

Weather Report

Since this is a day match, the weather is likely to remain warm with temperatures of around 40 degrees.

Pitch Report

The pitches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium have been sort of a mixed bag so far. While there have been a couple of high-scoring encounters, there have been a couple of games that have seen the batsmen struggle. The average first-inning score here this season is around 170. The surface here is a bit dry and there are some cracks on the pitch which will help the slower bowlers get a good amount of turn.

Notable stats

Glen Maxwell's Explosive Batting

Maxwell has lived up to his big-hitting reputation this season too. He has scored a total of 330 runs so far at a phenomenal strike rate of 186.44.

Team News

There are no updates regarding injuries from either side.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Rajasthan Royals to win here. While there is little separating the two teams in terms of form and on-paper strengths, the Royals have seen most of their batsmen perform well this season. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers are heavily dependent on the top 3 to score runs for them. Also, the Rajasthan Royals have a more versatile bowling attack at their disposal.

Top Picks

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Jaiswal scored the quickest-ever IPL half-century in his last match and is in great form at the moment. He has scored 4 half-centuries and a century so far and is striking the ball at 167.15.

Yuzvendra Chahal: Chahal is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 21 wickets. He has taken 4 wickets in each of his last 2 outings and enjoys a good record on this ground.
