PBKS vs MI Match Preview

Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan have given PBKS a solid start when they have played together and will be looking to do so again here. While Prabhsimran has been playing aggressively, it was good to see Dhawan play freely as well.

Atharva Tadie and Liam Livingstone have looked quite promising in the last few matches, while Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza are finally living up to their all-rounders tag. This is where the depth in the PBKS camp is really impressive.

Livingstone, in particular, is one of the most dangerous batters in T20 cricket at the moment. He can strike sixes of all kinds of bowling at any stage in the match. He is a more than useful bowler as well.

In the bowling department, Arshdeep Singh will remain the go-to bowler for Shikhar Dhawan.

He has taken 15 wickets so far and has done an excellent job for the team, especially with the new ball. He is likely to share it with Kagiso Rabada. The South African legend seems to have just lost a bit of pace but the conditions in Mohali could be to his liking.

The spinners however have struggled a bit. Rahul Chahar has managed just 3 wickets in his 9 outings and has also been a bit expensive.

Top-order woes continue for the Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma failed to reach a double-digit score for a second time in a row, while Ishan Kishan once again squandered away a good start.

Surya Kumar Yadav, who has struggled to score almost the entire season so far, came back in style to score a belligerent 55 to keep MI on course in the chase, while Tim David played a memorable cameo of 45 from just 14 deliveries to get the Indians over the finish line. With Cameron Green also striking the ball nicely, MI has the batting lineup to be able to get the extra runs it needs in most matches.

Tilak Varma and Cameron Green will once again be the key players during the middle overs. It is no surprise that Varma is being talked of as a potential national cricketer in the near-future. Piyush Chawla is the pick of the bowlers for the Indians with 13 wickets and a real contender for the Purple cap at this stage in his career!

The seamers seem to be struggling though. Jofra Archer, who has been battling injuries, has picked up just 2 wickets, while Riley Meredith has 7 but has given away runs at over 10.5 per over.

Weather Report

We are likely to see some rain here on Wednesday and the conditions will be overcast.

Pitch Report

The Mohali Stadium offers an excellent surface to bat on and the average first-inning score here this season has been around 193. The last match played here saw LSG score 257 runs, which is the second-highest total in the history of IPL.

Notable stats

Shikhar Dhawan's Excellent Average

Dhawan has been a standout performer with the bat for the Punjab Kings. He has scored 262 runs at a strike rate of 148.86 and a phenomenal average of 65.50. From a fantasy contest point of view, an opening batter that is so consistent is an absolute must in your lineups.

Dream11 Prediction

While this one is a pretty difficult game to call, we are backing the Punjab Kings to win here. Their batting seems to be in good shape and the all-rounders, Sikandar Raza and Sam Curran give them an edge. Also, the team has a stronger bowling line-up, giving them an edge.

Top Picks

Suryakumar Yadav: Yadav scored a brilliant half-century in the last match and was instrumental in getting MI back on track. He is still the world's top-ranked T20 batter and seems to have come out of his slump. With an excellent batting pitch on offer at Mohali, we are likely to see another good inning from him.

Cameron Green: Green has lived up to his all-round credentials pretty well. He has scored a total of 243 runs and has also picked up 5 wickets. The most important part may be that Green is being used as a frontline bowler and a top-order batter making him so much more valuable for Dream11 contests.

Arshdeep Singh: Arshdeep has picked up 15 wickets this season, 6 of which have come at Mohali. He is the leading wicket-taker for Punjab Kings in this edition. Another fast bowler that bowls during the powerplay and then at the death. His current form makes an excellent player to consider.
