MLS vs SYD Match Preview

Adam Zampa has been the best bowler for the Stars alongside Luke Wood. Both of them have been able to pick up wickets while keeping the runs down. The batting has been a bit of letdown as Joe Clarke has been unable to perform to a high level with consistency. Marcus Stoinis also has just one inning of note.

For the Sixers, seam bowler Hayden Kerr has played some excellent all-round cricket so far, scoring 115 runs and also picking up 11 wickets. He has received excellent support from Sean Abbott as well as Ben Dwarshuis, who both have managed to take wickets at regular intervals. The batting department too has performed well for the Sixers.

Josh Philippe and James Vince have provided the team with many good starts while James Vince has been a solid performer lower down the order. Overall, the Sixers have a pretty well-balanced squad.

Weather Report

The skies are expected to be generally clear with a minimum chance of rain. Temperatures will remain in the lower 20s.

Pitch Report

The MCG offers one of the most balanced surfaces in Australia. The batsmen as well as the bowlers get equal opportunities here. The quicker bowlers will get plenty of movement and bounce especially early in the match. But as the surface evens out, the batsmen will be able to score easily here.

Notable stats

Adam Zampa’s Excellent Economy Rate

While Adam Zampa hasn’t taken as many wickets as he would have liked this season, he has been pretty effective at stopping the opposition batsmen from freeing their arms. His economy rate in the 7 matches so far is 6.85, which is pretty good for the T20 format.

Team News

Both teams have a fully fit squad at their disposal and we do not expect to see any changes from either of them.

Dream11 Prediction

After losing the first couple of matches, the Sixers have come back strongly in the last couple of weeks. While they did lose a match against the Heat in their last completed encounter, that can be considered an aberration. On the other hand, the Stars have simply lacked consistency and have gotten themselves into a deep hole, from which they will find it pretty difficult to escape.

The fact that they have lost each of their last 5 encounters against the Sixers will also affect their morale. That’s why we are backing the Sydney Sixers to win this one.

Top Picks

Hayden Kerr: Kerr has been a reliable all-rounder for the Sydney Sixers this season. In the last 10 matches, he has scored 215 runs at a strike rate of 150.34 and has also picked up 12 wickets.

Joe Clarke: Clarke has been in superb form at the top of the order. He has scored 232 runs in 7 innings, including a century, and has a strike rate of 134.10.

Sean Abbott: No team is complete without the inclusion of Sean Abbott. He is the all-time leading wicket-taker in the BBL and has already taken 10 wickets so far this season. Abbott has a good record at the MCG and will play an important role in this match.
