DC vs MI Team Previews

Delhi Capitals

After a terrible start to its campaign, the Delhi Capitals seem to be gradually getting back on track. The team has won 3 of its last 4 matches and has climbed up to the 6th spot. However, they are not yet completely out of the woods and will need to keep the winning momentum going.

Rishabh Pant seemed to have hit form in the team’s latest fixture against GT as he slammed his 3rd half-century of the season. A closer look at the stats show that he scored 62 of his 88 runs against Mohit Sharma! He only scored 26 runs from 25 balls against the rest of the bowlers.

He will once again be the key batsman for the Capitals in the middle order along with Tristan Stubbs, who can easily clear the ropes. The South African has been perhaps the best player for DC this season consistently.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner have been a bit inconsistent at the top of the order. That is the reason that DC went with Fraser McGurk at the opening slot in the previous match. The young Aussie has scored nearly 66% of his total runs in the IPL in boudnaries!

Axar Patel came in at number 3 on Wednesday and scored a well-deserved century. His form gives the Capitals some leeway to tinker with the batting order. Patel is also the most economical bowler in the team and has picked up 7 wickets. He will join Kuldeep Yadav in the spin department, who has been absolutely brilliant all throughout.

The seam attack looks pretty solid too with Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar picking up 10 wickets each. Rasikh Salam picked up 3 wickets in the last match and is likely to retain his place in the playing eleven. The big question is going to be over the inclusion of Anrich Nortje in the lineup.

he has bene extremely expensive and looks short of confidence. DC may opt to swap him out for this match.<br />

Mumbai Indians

Things haven’t gone smoothly for the Mumbai Indians as they have won only 3 of the 8 matches played so far. While they still have quite a few matches to play, they need to start winning some games to get themselves in the top half of the table.

A lot will depend on Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. They have given the team some strong starts but they have not been consistent enough. Tilak Varma is another solid performer in the batting line-up and is averaging 45.50 in 8 innings. He is easily the best batter for MI right now.

However, it is the middle order that continues to bog down Mumbai. While Suryakumar Yadav has scored 2 half-centuries, he hasn’t been at his fluent best. SKY seems to eother play a blinder or get out cheaply.

Hardik Pandya, Tim David, and Romario Shepherd haven’t been able to give the team a boost during the death overs. The reason for this appears to be Hardik Pandya's poor hitting ability. He takes up too many balls at a crucial time, often sucking any momentyum that is built up.

As a result, Tim David and the others do not have enough time to provide the end overs boost.

The story continues with the bowling too. Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the season with 13 wickets and is ably supported by Gerald Coetzee, who has 12. However, the other bowlers including Akash Madhwal, Shreyas Gopal, and Piyush Chawla have failed to put a lid on the opposition´s batting.

Apart from Bumrah, who is world-class in all aspects, none of the other bowlers are going to give the opposition batters any nightmares.

Pitch and Conditions

The Arun Jaitley Stadium has hosted 2 matches so far this season and both have been high-scoring games, seeing an aggregate of over 440 runs each. The surface is dry and flat, offering plenty of bounce and pace for the batsmen to work with.

There is very little margin for error for the bowlers. The team batting first will look to score at least 225 runs.

The weather will be bright and sunny with temperatures hovering between 35 and 38 degrees.

DC vs MI Betting Tips

Both teams haven’t been in the best of forms, making it difficult to pick a clear favorite. However, looking at the recent performances, we feel that the Delhi Capitals have a slight edge. The middle order has performed better compared to that of the Mumbai Indians and the team also has a better variety of bowlers.

A superior spin attack and a new-found aggressive batting approach could allow DC to win this match.

Bet on the Delhi Capitals to win.

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma are among the top opening pairs of this season. The duo has put together 332 runs at an average of 41.50 and includes 1 century stand and 3 partnerships of 50+ runs. On the other hand, DC has gone very hard from the very start in the last few matches and that always risks an early loss of a wicket.
