LSG vs RCB Match Preview

Kyle Mayers has been excellent so far, scoring 4 half-centuries in his 8 innings. not only has been consistent but he has also been able to score at a very quick rate and hits sixes at will. To be able to keep Quinton de Kock out of the starting eleven is something that not many people would have expected of him.

He will be looking for good support from his opening partner, KL Rahul, who has been a bit slow in scoring runs. The problem with Rahul seems that he is unaware of the issues around his strike rate but that surely has to change soon.

The Super Giants have a strong middle order as Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, and Ayush Badoni all appear in good form. Stoinis hobbled off the field after a blow to his hand and may not be available for this match.

We think the LSG bolwing matches up very well against the RCB batters. They have a number of spinners that can come into the fray and exploit some slow conditions. Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, or even K Gowtham can be used to try and slow up the RCB batters.

Mark Wood has not played the previous few matches but in his absense, Naveen-ul-Haq has stepped up and shown his quality during the death overs.

While the batting has been one of the highlights of the team’s performance, it is the top 3 batsmen who have done the bulk of the heavy lifting. Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli have been one of the most potent opening pairs this season, and have scored 5 half-centuries a piece. Glenn Maxwell has batted well too. However, the batsmen lower down have struggled to build on the good starts.

Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Kartik, and Shahbaz Ahmed haven’t been able to get going. Teams know that if they can get a couple of early wickets then RCB is always going to be vulnerable. We know that Virat, Faf, and Maxwell are in good form but they have no option but to attack and their chances of failure increase.

Talking about the bowling, the seamers have done an excellent job so far. Mohammed Siraj has taken 14 wickets and is the joint-highest wicket-taker this season. Siraj has the most dot balls during the powerplay and his economy rate overall is better than Rashid Khan right now!

He has received good support from Harshal Patel at the other end but the latter has been a bit expensive. David Willey, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Wayne Parnell have bowled well in patches, while Wanindu Hasaranga is the only specialist spinner on the team.

The bolwing attack for RCB is not bad by any stretch but it does seem like one that can be put under pressure. Hasaranga may be the bowler that has to step up and really make an impact in this match.

Weather Report

There is a forecast of rain here which might lead to delays or interruptions.

Pitch Report

The surface at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow isn’t the easiest to bat on and is likely to produce a more even battle between the bat and the ball. In the 4 matches played here this season, the average first-inning score has been around 152.

Anything over 160 can be a bit tricky to chase.

Notable stats

Glenn Maxwell’s Explosive Batting

Glenn Maxwell has showcased his hard-hitting talent pretty well this season. He has scored 258 runs in his 8 innings at an incredible strike rate of 186.95.

Team News

Marcus Stoinis injured his finger in the last match and details on that are awaited.

Dream11 Prediction

While both teams have a pretty strong batting line-up, we feel that it is the bowlers who hold the key here and the visitors have the upper hand in that department. RCB also has a strong top order which can take on the underwhelming LSG bowling.
