LAN vs DUR Match Preview

Jos Buttler hasn’t been in the best of forms this season and has struggled to give Lancashire good starts. His opening partner, Phil Salt, too has been seen struggling. This will put up added pressure on the middle order. Steven Croft scored a brilliant century in the last match and will be looking to carry on his form here. He, along with Daryl Mitchell, will be the key player for the home team in the middle order.

Liam Livingstone and Dane Vilas will come in lower down the order and look to add valuable runs toward the end. Luke Wood will once again lead the pace attack here. He has picked up 13 wickets so far and is the leading wicket-taker for Lancashire this season. He has received good support from Daryl Mitchell at the other end.

The spinners however haven’t been in the best of forms as Luke Wells and Tom Hartley have both struggled to pick up wickets.

Durham will be looking to its batting line-up to see them through here. Alex Lees and Michael Jones have done a decent job at the top of the order but they haven’t been fluent in scoring runs. Brydon Carse, who was playing his first match of the season last time around, was quite impressive and more will be expected from him. However, the bulk of the scoring responsibility will lie with Oliver Robinson.

Talking about the bowling, Nathan Sowter has been brilliant so far, taking 18 wickets in 9 matches. But the team does lack another quality option in the spin department. Wayne Parnell has done a decent job with the new ball as well towards the death, but he too hasn’t received much support from the other seamers including Bas De Leede.

Weather Report

The skies will remain overcast and there is a forecast for rain here.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Old Trafford is well-balanced, providing equal opportunities to the batsmen and the bowlers. The seamers will be able to get some movement early on in the match but as the game progresses, it should get easier to bat on. The spinners will come into action later on in the game. A score of around 160 is a par score here.
