IRE vs IND Match Preview

There is a lot of firepower in the home team’s batting. Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie have plenty of experience in T20s and will look to give the team a strong start with the bat. Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector will lend stability to the middle order, while all-rounders Curtis Campher and George Dockrell will add depth to the batting.

Mark Adair played a brilliant knock of 72 of just 36 deliveries in the team’s latest outing against Scotland and that should give him plenty of confidence. Adair is also close to being the quickest pacer to reach the 100-wicket milestone as he needs just 3 more wickets to reach there.

Adair will be joined by Joshua Little, who has shown excellent form in The Hundred, while Benjamin White and Theo van Woerkom are the two spinners on the squad.

Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh have retained their spot in the squad from the West Indies. They will be joined by potential debutants Rinku Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Jitesh Sharma, and Shahbaz Khan.

Krishna and Jitesh have played a few ODIs for the team but are yet to feature in the T20Is, while this is the first international call for Rinku and Jitesh Sharma. This series also marks the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been missing international matches for almost a year due to a back injury.

All eyes will be on his performance as the team prepares for the upcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. Bumrah will lead the team and Ruturaj Gaikwad will be his deputy.

Weather Report

There are high chances of rain throughout the day and we may have some delays or even a shortened match.

Pitch Report

The pitch at The Village in Dublin is good to bat on and has hosted some high-scoring encounters in the past. The average first-inning score in this ground is 151, but the team batting first will look to set a target of close to 170 to give the bowlers some elbow room. The quicker bowlers will get some assistance early on, while the spinners will come into play during the second innings.

Notable stats

Arshdeep Singh’s excellent bowling

Since his debut in T20I last year, Arshdeep Singh has emerged as India's most successful bowler in the shortest format. He has picked up 48 wickets in just 31 matches and has a strike rate of 12.90.
