DC vs MI Match Preview

The batting has been a big letdown for the DC and has been the primary reason for the team’s listless performance. While skipper David Warner has scored 2 half-centuries in 3 innings, he has received little support from the batsmen around him. His strike-rate has been a massive concern, though.

Prithvi Shaw, who was in good form in the domestic circuit before the start of this tournament, hasn’t been able to get going and the same can be said about Sarfaraz Khan. The squad has some big hitters of the cricket ball, including Rilee Rossouw and Manish Pandey and they will be hoping to get going soon. On the positive side, the Capitals have good depth in their batting as Axar Patel, Abhishek Porel, and Rovman Powell can all bat. It has been a similar story with the bowlers too.

Despite having some quality bowlers including Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, and Khaleel Ahmed, they haven’t been able to put a leash on the opposition’s batting.

The opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma has failed to play a big inning so far for MI and that will be a major cause of concern for the management. However, they did get a few runs under their belt in their last fixture and will be looking to build up on that momentum.

Similarly, Cameron Green and Surya Kumar Yadav, who are known for their hard-hitting skills, have failed spectacularly. The only bright spot for the Mumbai Indians has been the performance of Tilak Varma, who is the top scorer for the team. Bumrah was the team’s go-to bowler with the new ball as well as during the death and his absence has left a big void.

The team management has splurged quite a bit on Jofra Archer, but he is yet to prove his worth. Jhye Richardson’s injury has further weakened the seam attack and it remains how his replacement, Riley Meredith performs. The Mumbai Indians have managed to get a total of just 5 wickets in the two games, which speaks volumes about the bowlers’ poor form.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to remain clear with temperatures ranging from 28-33 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is very flat and provides a good carry of the ball after it pitches. This will help the batsmen to play their shots and we should see a high-scoring encounter. The average first-inning score here is around 165-170, which can be considered a par score. The pitch does have some green patches which will help the quicker bowlers.

Notable stats

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Delhi Capitals to win here. While both teams are winless so far, the records show that the Capitals have enjoyed an upper hand over the Mumbai Indians in the last few matches. The team also has a stronger pace attack and some good all-rounders providing the skipper greater flexibiliy.

Top Picks

David Warner: David Warner scored 2 half-centuries so far and looks in good form at the moment. He will face a below-par bowling attack from the Mumbai Indians on a flat pitch and we think that we are likely to see another big inning from him.

Axar Patel: Over the years, Axar Patel has evolved into a genuine all-rounder. He has scored 1189 runs in his IPL career and has also picked up 102 wickets.

Ishan Kishan: Ishan Kishan is an aggressive opening batsman who can take apart any bowling attack on his day. He has got a couple of good starts and is now due for a big inning.
