After a string of unfavorable performances, the West Indies finally have something to cheer about as they defeated India by 6 wickets in the 2nd ODI. They now have a chance of winning their first-ever bilateral ODI series against India since 2006.

Brandon King once again squandered away a good start in the last match and will hope to turn things around here. He will be seen in the opening slot alongside Kyle Mayers. Captain Shai Hope has led his team from the front and is the leading run-scorer for the hosts in this series.

He scored a gritty half-century in the last match and put up an unbeaten partnership of 91 runs with Keacy Carty to see his team through. In addition to the duo, West Indies has a strong middle order, thanks to players like Alick Athanaze, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Romario Shepherd.

The latter has done a decent job with the ball too, picking up 3 wickets. He will once again feature in the pace attack alongside Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Mayers.

Gudakesh Motie is the pick of the bowlers with 5 wickets and will lead the spin department with Yannic Cariah. 

India

India continued to experiment with its playing eleven and paid the price by suffering its first ODI loss against West Indies since 2019. The team must now get itself back and focus on winning the series.

However, the coach has made it clear that the team isn’t afraid to try out new combinations and get the perfect squad before the start of the upcoming World Cup.

We hope India actually sticks to its guns and plays a young team in a must-win match to see what they are capable of rather than running back to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Ishan Kishan has scored back-to-back half-centuries and will be the key player for the visitors at the top of the order.

He is once again likely to open the batting with Shubhman Gill. Playing without the experienced duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian batting line-up suffered a collapse as they were dismissed for just 181 runs. Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson, both of whom had a good run in the IPL, haven’t been able to replicate their form in the ODIs, and the same can be said about Gill.

Shardul Thakur has done a good job with the new ball but without the services of their premier pacers, the seam attack looks a bit weak. The spinners on the other hand have done a good job, with Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav picking up 8 wickets between them.
