SYTW vs BHW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 06, 2023

It’s going to be an amazing matchup here, as both teams are playing great cricket and are contenders for the Final. The Thunder have won two in a row for a 4-1 record, while the Heat shook off a loss and came back with a convincing win over the Hurricanes to be 5-1.

Sydney Thunder Women vs. Brisbane Heat Women will be played at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney on November 6th.

SYTW vs BHW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

With 246 runs scored thus far (an average of 49.20), Athapaththu is without a doubt the team's finest player and really setting the standard. Aside from one match in which she scored just 13 runs, she has batted effectively and is a trustworthy scorer, as she showcased with a giant score of 69 against the Stars.

Wilson is a valuable opener (150 runs) and works well with Athapaththu, while Litchfield isn't far behind with 173 runs (she didn't have much of a chance to bat in the last game). Knight picked up only 33 runs in her first three games, but she has been looking much better lately and turned things around with a desperately needed 52*.

The Thunder truly need to make bowling improvements because it isn't even close to the calibre of their batting. Darlington is the top wicket-taker with 7, but she let up too many runs at 145 and most of those wickets came in her 4/33 effort against the Renegades.

After 18 overs, Bates has bowled awful with 1/142 (7.88 ER), while Athapaththu (4/103) and Kapp (4/116) have been playing consistently well. Still, the bowling needs work if the Thunder are serious about the championship.

Brisbane Heat Women

With 258 runs, Harris leads all scorers in the entire WBBL, but to be fair, she doesn't score well in every game. Harris had a giant game of 136*, but her scores since then have been all over the place, with just one run in the win over the Hurricanes. We're not ready to call her the best batter in the league just yet.

With just 71 runs, opener Redmayne is also not playing quite as well as most expected, considering that in her last three games, she has only managed 17 runs overall. If it wasn't for Kerr's 59 runs in the Hobart game, then the Heat would certainly have lost due to a poor upper batting order. Voll with 119 is looking good, but somehow the Heat keep winning with different players stepping up.

The Heat are bowling very effectively, and Jonassen is looking impressive with a 10/175 (7.29 ER). Despite taking 8 wickets Sippel is allowing far too many runs to be scored (167 with 7.59 ER) Hancock, who has stats of 5/160, is the most unimpressive bowler thus far and has been expensive in 19 overs.

SYTW vs BHW Toss Prediction

On this surface, bowling first is an excellent choice because batting might be challenging at times. However, if the captain wins the toss, she will probably decide to field. It's fairly even historically here in the WBBL, with 20 wins coming from bowling first, and 26 wins from batting first.

Pitch and Conditions

With great turn and substantial grip, the North Sydney Oval is generally an excellent surface for spinners. Low-scoring games are the norm here, so batters may need to exercise caution while choosing their shots and refrain from becoming overly eager to attack spinners. With the new ball, pace bowlers can be helpful early in the first innings, but spin is certainly more efficient.

SYTW vs BHW Betting Tips

Despite the fact that the Heat won the last 2 games, we’re really impressed by how well the Thunder are playing. We like the Rajabets odds for the Thunder, as there’s a chance to earn more money. Athapaththu is just too good to ignore, and the Thunder are getting great help from Wilson and Litchfield.

The Heat are really strong, but we’re not sure if we can trust Harris or Redmayne to be the pair to take over the league. Voll and Kerr are great at times and certainly helped the Heat win a few games, but we think the Thunder bowlers can step up here.

Bet on the Sydney Thunder to win.

We've been impressed by Wilson in her last few games, in which she's picked up 30 & 45. She might not reach the heights of Athapaththu in every game, but Wilson's odds are really interesting in this match and as an opener, she can control the game right from the start. She's getting better every game and can reach a half-century or more.

While she's been fantastic as a batter this season, Chamari Athapaththu is just as effective with the ball. She's not a world-class bowler, but she's been very consistent and has displayed some great performances such as 3/20 against the Sixers. She's got 4 total wickets, but the odds are really good and worth a try.

The odds are better for the Thunder, and between Wilson, Athapaththu, and Litchfield, there's three players who can score big runs and take over the game. The Heat have had players with a few major scores this season, but those feel like they are happening less and less now.
