SYDW vs MLRW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 05, 2023

At last place on the table and a 1-5 record, time is really running out for the Sixers to make the playoffs. The team may already be looking ahead to next season, which is a shame for a squad that was so tough last year and went to the Final. The Renegades, meanwhile, aren’t exactly much better in second-last place with a 1-5 record after a recent loss to the Scorchers. It might not be the most intense matchup in the WBBL, but both the Sixers and Renegades are desperate for a victory.

Sydney Sixers Women vs. Melbourne Renegades Women will be played at the WACA, Perth, on November 5th. Don't forget to keep checking our betting odds page for all the latest tips and advice.

SYDW vs MLRW Team Previews

Sydney Sixers Women

A number of big names that are typically dependable are having trouble finding any momentum with the bat. In six games, Bates (50 runs) and Burns (45 runs) have failed to meet expectations and have not had any effect on the game. Gardner (147 runs) does have the occasional good game but her scores are all over the place and she has no consistency.

Tryon has shown bursts of solid batting (128 runs), but the majority of run-making is down to Perry, with 203 runs and an average of 40.60, as the lone player who appears to have some promise. Still, even Perry couldn’t help much in the loss to the Strikers by only scoring 14 runs.

Although occasionally the bowling has been decent, it is still insufficiently competitive for a tough league like the WBBL. Even with the win against the Renegades, it was only by 6 runs and this didn't display the best of the Sixers. While Gardner's 12 wickets are good compared to other league bowlers, her 7.43 ER and 171 runs allowed is excessive. Cheatle has 11/192 isn’t helping much, but to think that these are the best bowlers on the team really says something.

Melbourne Renegades Women

Yet another loss means that the Renegades have dropped four games in a row, and any chance at the Final looks like a fairy tale, at best.

The most concerning development of the Renegades is Matthews' dismal performance this season, which is strange because she’s often an entertaining and dependable T20 batter. Matthews has only scored 94 runs in six games! In contrast, Wareham is playing exceptionally well in the 5th spot for the majority of the time (182 runs at a 45.50 average), while Beaumont is usually reliable and has contributed 167 runs.

After her explosive start, we had hoped for Kaur to start scoring more runs and were disappointed when she managed 32 runs combined across three games. However, even if it came in a loss, her 52* is a good sign of things to come.

Although Matthews' bad batting is still a mystery to us, her bowling is superb and she consistently hits the mark, as seen by her recent 3/17 total in a match. With her bowling, the Renegades at least have a small chance in any match, as she’s on 9/178 with a decent ER of 7.97 after 22.2 overs. With 8/196, Wareham has also been fine but is giving up too many runs for a poor ER of 8.52.

SYDW vs MLRW Toss Prediction

The pitch is very equal statistically and in recent WBBL games, 17 teams have won while batting second, while 12 teams have won when batting first. For any captain who wins the toss, bowling first appears to be a wise choice, as it’s possible to limit first innings runs to around 130.

Pitch and Conditions

The WACA surface is regarded as being exceptionally rapid and lively, with a quick outfield that's perfect for quick singles. Pace bowlers usually find success here, although batters trying to reach the boundary may take full advantage of the ball's speed and hit many fours and sixes.

SYDW vs MLRW Betting Tips

This isn’t the easiest game to predict, as neither team has been playing well and is unlikely to progress to the playoffs. Based on the Dafabet odds, however, we’ll go with the Renegades as the money return is better. You can likely get better odds in the bonus tips below.

The Renegades are just slightly better this year than the Sixers, and if Kaur and Wareham can each put up a half-century, as well as decent contributions from Webb and Beaumont (we’ve given up hoping for Matthews), then Melbourne can get this game easily against a weak Sixers team.

The odds are decent here for two runs, and while it's unlikely to start off the game with three runs or boundary because of a good bowling pitch, two quick runs are certainly possible if Beaumont is on strike first.

    Renegades Top Batter: Georgia Wareham

It's surprising why Wareham's odds are so high, as she's actually one of the top scorers in the team. She's picked up 182 runs and is yet to score below 25 runs this season, with her best being 47*.

Not only do the Renegades have better odds, but usually score more fours. In the last game, for instance, the Renegades had 18 fours compared to only 9 from the Sixers.
