Sri Lanka

After clinching the ODI series by a 2-0 margin, Sri Lanka has gained an early advantage in the T20s by winning a last-ball thriller on Sunday.

With Pathum Nissanka back in the playing eleven, he will join Kusal Mendis at the top of the order and look to give the team a solid start. They will be followed by the likes of Kusal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Charith Asalanka, all of whom can be pretty devastating in the middle overs.

Angelo Mathews, back in the T20 squad after almost 3 years, played a match-winning inning of 46 runs on Sunday to see his team home. He will reprise his role lower down the order alongside Dasun Shanaka, who is another capable all-rounder.

The spinners, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana bowled brilliantly to pick up 4 wickets between them while giving away just 35 runs in their 8 overs. The seamers however will need to be more disciplined with their line and length. 

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe were on the money for most of the game on Sunday but failed to hold their nerve in the very last over to squander away a good chance of scoring a historic victory against Sri Lanka.

The visitors have a strong top order consisting of quality batsmen like Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Craig Ervine, and Sean Williams. However, all eyes will be on Sikandar Raza, who put up a brilliant all-round performance in the last match.

Raza scored 64 runs from just 42 deliveries and also picked up 3 wickets for just 13 runs to keep Zimbabwe in the hunt throughout the match. Ryan Burl hasn’t been in the best of forms of late and more will be expected from him.

The seam attack, led by Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani, is pretty strong and will look to make early inroads in the Sri Lankan batting. Wellington Masakadza was quite economical and will support Raza in the spin department.
