The SA20 is a popular tournament to place bets on. Let's see what the cricket odds and betting markets have in store for this key fixture at Boland Park.
Paarl Royals vs Pretoria Capitals head-to-head record

Paarl Royals
The Paarl Royals weathered a stop-start SA20 campaign in 2023. They were unable to string together consecutive victories until their seventh and eighth matches. Those were followed by a washout and a closing defeat - and ultimately an end to a disappointing maiden season.
They have a new head coach in Shane Bond this time. He has taken over from JP Duminy. Jos Buttler is still one of their batting kingpins and they have recruited a few other international stars such as West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen, Ireland's Lorcan Tucker and England's John Turner.
Like a few other SA20 franchises, Paarl have made a late changes in personnel. Batter Lhuandre Pretorius and seamer Kwena Maphaka won't play for them after all, having joined South Africa's Under-19 World Cup squad. Wrist-spinner Nqaba Peter and seamer Keith Dudgeon have joined the Royals' squad as replacements.
Paarl's continuity will be helped by the fact that they have retained their top two run-scorers - Buttler and David Miller - and top two wicket-takers - Evan Jones and Bjorn Fortuin - from last season. But they have lost all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who has moved to the Capitals.
Paarl Royals Playing 11
Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Wihan Lubbe, David Miller, Mitchell Van Buuren, Andile Phehlukwayo, Fabian Allen, Bjorn Fortuin, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi, Obed McCoy.
Pretoria Capitals
The Capitals finished in first position, five points clear of the second-placed Joburg Super Kings on last season's points table, before losing to the third-placed Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final. Motivated by that fall at the final hurdle, Pretoria will be determined to go one better for a maiden title this year.
The Capitals were set to have Proteas fast bowler Anrich Nortje and South Africa Under-19 batter Steve Stolk in their ranks this season. But Nortje has been sidelined by injury, while Stolk will instead be playing in the Under-19 World Cup. Fast bowlers Tiaan van Vuuren and Hardus Viljoen have since joined the Capitals as replacements.
International recruits-wise, Adil Rashid, Will Jacks and Paul Stirling are big assets with bat and ball for the Capitals. Jacks has plenty of prowess with the bat, while Rashid is among the best wrist-spinners in world cricket. Stirling has moved to Pretoria after playing for the Royals last season.
Momentum counts for a lot in T20 cricket and, in the early stages of this competition, it's important the Royals or Capitals get off to a winning start. Defeats can catch up relatively quickly with teams trying to set a successful precedent early in the competition.
Pretoria Capitals Playing 11
Philip Salt, Will Jacks, Theunis de Bruyn, Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram, James Neesham, Corbin Bosch, Senuran Muthusamy, Eathan Bosch, Adil Rashid, Daryn Dupavillon.
PR vs PC Toss Prediction
Boland Park in Paarl hosted five matches during the 2023 SA20. The team to win the toss batted first on three occasions and bowled first twice.
It's likely the captain who wins the toss this time will elect to bat first, too. This will allow his side to take advantage of a relatively fresh pitch and bowl on a dry pitch with a bit of extra turn later.

Pitch and Conditions
Boland Park produced first-innings totals of 81, 169, 127, 142 and 158 in last season's SA20. This isn't necessarily a high-scoring venue. A first-innings total of approximately 150-plus can be considered competitive.
This pitch should take some turn, especially in the second innings. It can be well worth playing two specialist spinners here.
No rain and temperatures in excess of 30 degrees celsius are forecast for Paarl on matchday.
PR vs PC Betting Tips
Pretoria are in a stronger position to win this, even without homeground advantage. They have retained and recruited well. Their all-rounder stocks are impressive.
Paarl's batting resources are looking relatively thin, especially if Buttler doesn't fire. They will likely need a big contribution from Miller.
The Capitals are priced as 2.04 underdogs to win this match. The Royals are offered as 1.80 favourites.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Jacks is a rising star for England and has experience in several domestic leagues around the world. The Capitals might open the batting with him. He can score quickly and freely at the top of the order.
Fortuin's tally of 14 wickets in 11 matches was the most for the Royals in last season's SA20. He will likely open the bowling and have the opportunity to capitalise during the powerplay. He bowls wicket to wicket and gets extra bounce.
Miller was second only to Buttler among Paarl's leading run-scorers last season. He has played T20 cricket around the world and knows how to go big, quickly, in South African conditions.
