Paarl Royals

The Paarl Royals were unbeaten this SA20 season after victories over the Pretoria Capitals twice and Joburg Super Kings. MI Cape Town then snapped the Royals' unbeaten run and, a few days later, Paarl will face the same opposition. This is sure to be an intriguing fixture.

Jos Buttler has emerged as the Royals' leading run-scorer this year. He has collected 169 runs in four innings and received good support from David Miller, Mitchell van Buuren and Jason Roy. Roy has been particularly punishing at the top of the order alongside Buttler.

Lungi Ngidi has been the Royals' standout performer with the ball. The Proteas seamer has taken eight wickets in four matches. Averaging two wickets per match over an extended period in this format is impressive. Look forward to another big performance from him.

Spin-wise, the Royals can look to left-armers Tabraiz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin again. The wrist spinner and finger spinner have been superb - collectively and individually. They could again both benefit from the extra bounce on offer at Boland Park.

MI Cape Town

MI Cape Town ended the inaugural edition of the SA20 in 2023 at the bottom of the points table. They have shown improvement this season - and have won as many matches as they've lost. If they manage to beat the Royals again, Cape Town can show doubters and fans alike they're among the genuine title contenders this year.

Ryan Rickelton has been remarkably good at the top of the order. He has scored four consecutive half-centuries this SA20 season and is being spoken about in some circles as the man to replace Quinton de Kock at the top of the Proteas' limited-overs order. Let's see if he can put in a fifth big showing in a row here.

Olly Stone and Kagiso Rabada are Cape Town's leading wicket-takers this SA20 season. They have four wickets each. Both have bowled with good pace and accuracy. Roy thrashed Rabada around Newlands recently - and the battle between these two could be highly entertaining again.

MI Cape Town are among the Mumbai Indians franchise family, who also own MI Emirates and MI New York. This global support can both help and pressurise the Cape Town team to keep doing well in the SA20. They're going to be hard pressed against a motivated Royals outfit.
